Meet Kerry Hall, Roald Dahl Clinical Nurse Specialist, who works with children with complex medical needs. Since qualifying as a nurse in 2017 Kerry has worked in various roles and uses that experience to support children with complex medical needs and their families.

Congratulations to Lucy Weavers who's been been appointed Interim NNUH Chief Nurse. The appointment comes after Rachael Cocker was appointed Chief Nurse of Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group on a year-long secondment. Lucy will take up her post from 5 January.

We've taken delivery of 150 new tracked wheelchairs this month. The new Stryker portering chairs have tracker devices fitted so that they can be easily located. Overall, the number of wheelchairs available for use on the NNUH main site will increase by 40.

Congratulations to Rebecca Saengna, Radiology E-Roster Co-ordinator, on achieving a Highly Commended PRIDE Award. Becky was nominated by a colleague who suffered a stroke at work. Becky noticed slurred speech and sprang into action and took her colleague to ED.

Our Mobile Cancer Care Unit driver Jack Russell has retired after driving our Hope for Tomorrow vehicle Amara since the service first started, helping bring cancer treatments closer to patients four days a week. We wish him a very happy, healthy and fulfilling retirement.

We've said bye bye to Bailey, one of our Pets As Therapy dogs, after her final visit today. Bailey has been visiting us since 2019 with her owner Katie, giving more than 600 hours of pet therapy during this time. Bailey now heads into a well-earned and happy retirement.

We’ve completed patient recruitment for a research study to test a new way of diagnosing patients with joint inflammation. The ELIJA trial is the first in Europe to evaluate a genomic PCR test which distinguishes between infectious and non-infectious joint swelling and pain in just a few hours.

Our Diabetes Youth Team recently held a Pizza and Bingo evening for young people with diabetes. It was the first time the team organised an event in the Elsie Bertram Diabetes Centre. The aim was to help patients aged 19-25 engage with the diabetes services and manage their diabetes better.
