Horizon OS v85: Surface Keyboard!

Meta is working on a Horizon OS feature called "Surface Keyboard" which will allow you to project a virtual keyboard (and touchpad) onto any flat surface using just your headset.

Meta Proj. Phoenix (aka Loma, Puffin) I’ve seen development units of Meta’s premium lightweight VR HMD, planned for H1 2027. This mock-up/sketch is based on what I've seen, alongside Quest Pro for comparison. Note that Phoenix also has an external puck that is not pictured.

Meta Horizon OS v83 PTC includes new references to a headset that has eye-tracking based authentication, as well as automatic IPD/IAD adjustment. Also I rarely post here sorry lol

I think toggles are best, but there's also a neat feature in Poiyomi and lilToon called distance fade where u can make an object completely disappear when you get close enough. it could help for smaller props/tails that u don't want to toggle #VRChat

Following Meta's announcement of limited-edition Quest "inspired by Xbox" a little over a year ago, multiple reports indicate that Meta may launch 'Meta Quest 3S - Xbox Edition' as soon as next week. It may include an Xbox controller and possibly other accessories.

It would appear that Meta is working to implement eye/face authentication on Horizon OS, I assume for Quest 4 and 3P headsets (like the ones they are building with ASUS and Lenovo) that will likely have the needed inward facing sensors.

The Meta Horizon OS v74 SDK adds support for Hand Tracking microgestures:

In VRChat's current open beta, PC desktop users can try out the "Selfie Expression" feature, which adds webcam based head, mouth, eye, hand and finger tracking, so you can move around like this without needing VR (all you need is a webcam)

Lot of interesting potential being introduced with this.

Some more interesting strings related to Camera Access in Quest/Horizon OS v74, including the ability to use USB-C cameras instead of the headset ones? (some may simply be for internal usage of course)

Meta Horizon OS v74 PTC adds a permission for the "Avatar Selfie Cam" that I previously datamined, which lets you use your Horizon Avatar (or Codec Avatar) in calls and other scenarios. The Passthrough API that I recently posted about is separate.
