My #showmeyourknits on the needles project last Saturday is now finished. I found it had to be stitched together & have buttons. I started it 2 days after surgery. I should have waited a week 😂 There’s 1 error I would have fixed/frogged but… too sick. It got hidden 😉 Lacy Basket Weave Cowl 🧶

I haven’t felt very inspired lately but I’m 10 days post op for a problem that has dogged me for years. I needed a project! Never mind I could barely stand up, I had to knit. Found the pattern and stash yarn and … There is a major error I didn’t fix 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’d frog but it’s a reminder. #showmeyourknits

My first brioche in the round project. I wanted to learn brioche & decided a headband would be a good 1st project. As a test, I made a dog “collar”. I’m going to give it to my friend for her dog then make a matching headband for her. We do silly dog things. Rocky is the model & she’s not pleased 😂

Done for #FinishOffFriday the blanket from Hell. It turned out fine but there were at least 4 errors in the pattern, I messed up several times all by myself & it took almost 4 months to knit. Started on Oct 24th & ironically finished on Friday the 13th of Feb 🧶 For my daughter. Info in alt text.

For #WIPWednesday I bring you my favourite part of the blanket from Hell. It has 4 sets of 3 panels, each with a cat. It has 2 cats reaching for the butterfly. It’s the BFH because I’ve found 4 errors & the technique for twists is not what works well (messy). I wish I’d realized earlier 🤦‍♀️

I don’t do a lot of garter stitch but turned up this Nurmilintu Scarf, which is lace and garter stitch, and one of a few Emotional Support Chickens I’ve made 🧶 #showmeyourknits

For #showmeyourknits #firsts in no particular order. I thought it would be hard since I’ve been knitting so long but I’ve been trying new things since I retired. 1. First time using beads 2. First lined mittens 3. First fully stranded socks 4. First dog sweater (she hated it) Info in alt text.

My knitter’s choice are these Wookie socks (see alt text) for my Star Wars loving daughter. It was a learning experience! They were the 1st fully stranded socks I’ve made. The pattern was designed for a giant so I had to alter it. Hate that heel but stuck with it. She loved them 😊 #showmeyourknits

One more for #showmeyourknits Whites & Brights. This is really bright but I thought I’d post it since it’s Hanukkah and Hanukkah is about light. I just finished it yesterday. My daughter was going to come tomorrow for a couple of days but sadly can’t come. This will go to her via her brother 🧶

#WIPWednesday I know it’s Hanukkah day 4 but in my defence it only needs 3 rows, duplicate stitches, seed stitch border & a bath 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s for my daughter who was coming for days 7 & 8, but can’t. Her brother will deliver it. She will be ready for next year when Hanukkah ones very early 😊 🧶

Finally, I finished the first of four sections of The Cats Meow blanket. I didn’t realize how big it is. Queen size 5’ x 6’)! It’s going to take a while. I can’t stretch it out on the needle so I took photos of each cat (there are different cats on each of the 12 “panels” 🧶 🧶 🧶 #WIPWednesday

#showmeyourknits #WIP edition. 20 rows done & about 900 to go of The Cat’s Meow by Sharon Winsaur. This is going to take awhile! It’s a queen sized blanket — 5’ wide. Would have more done if it had occurred to me to use stitch markers every 10 stitches 🤦‍♀️ The socks are alternative knitting 🧶

#showmeyourknits wants horror… I have a story but it has the happy ending you all wanted in the lost category. I was hiking & lost one of these mitts. They are not only lovely on the outside, they are in the inside too (lined). When I noticed one gone I walked up and down looking. Nothing 😢

Knitting #horrorstories Part 1 for #showmeyourknits The first stranded sweater I’d done for 25 years. It had 4 colours on some rounds. Love a challenge. So… I knit the sleeves too long 🤦‍♀️ & the neck was too high. After ~5 years I fixed it. Part II when my girl wakes (g-y shift — just went to bed)

#WIPWednesday They will be socks! I don’t normally start a project before I finish the last one but… I am not going to have enough blue for my husband scrappy socks. No problem. I can get some tomorrow and it doesn’t matter if the dye lots don’t match. The second pair are going to be fairly plain.

I don’t do spooky but I did make the toque and black cat mitts for my daughter’s Halloween-loving roommate 🧶 #showmeyourknits

And it’s a wrap! Eat the Rich is very well designed. The pattern is a little hard to follow (I was using KnitCompanion) b/c the charts are on 2 pp (can’t be helped). Horizontal numbering would help, as would using a chart with heavier lines every 5 rows & columns (drives me insane when not used).

#WIPWednesday This is the Eat the Rich Toque. Progressing quickly but I’d like to have a little chat with the designer about how to make the charts easier to work with (nothing to do with the design which is wonderful). I’m knitting it for a friend with alopecia 🧶

I thought about this for a while and decided that giving away my knitting gives me the most joy. I’m knitting some toques for charity (pictured w/Admiral Furgus). My friend really liked 1 and asked if she could pay me for it. NO NO NO! I made her this one (Alaska Hat in worsted).

#showmeyourknits is challenging me this week! This is as autumn themed as I get. Maple Leaf toque and cowl and the Richmond Pullover. The toque for obvious reasons and the pullover just because it’s light and I wear it in the autumn.

I don’t knit scarves very often but I had to make this one for my friend’s sister and then my daughter wanted one so here I am showing them! 🧶 PS I hated knitting them 😂 #showmeyourknits

It seems that #showmeyourknits wants to know what’s on my needles. Same thing as was on them on WIP Wednesday, Octopus Mittens (Ravelry). I’ve knit the pattern 4 times. I love it. I also FINALLY realized that b/c I’m lining them I don’t have to worry about the floats unless they are very long 🤦‍♀️

#WIPWednesday Knitting my 4th pair of Octopus Mittens. I can’t help it! I love them. Getting my money’s worth from this pattern! They’re a gift for my DIL. Briggs & Little yarn. The white is actually grey & a creamy colour. The cuff folds up at the purl line. Then I’ll line them with some alpaca.

#WIPWednesday No Second Sock Syndrome here! Work socks for my son. He loves them (3rd pair) and no he doesn’t wear work boots in his job as an editor. I used the Sock Monkey pattern by Knitters Brewing Company but modified the heel to be a regular flap. Lovely easy knit that isn’t boring.

#sweaterweather is coming. Here’s my nod to my Irish heritage, washed and repaired and ready for cold weather. I made this sweater years ago when I was bigger. It’s gigantic on me now but I DON’T CARE! I still wear it. Someday I’ll knit an Aran cardigan in the correct size 🧶

Show me your stripes? Not many so I had to cheat a little. I don’t remember knitting the socks w/ stripes on the toes! The other socks are sock twins. Just wanted to try it out. The pullover “stripes” are patterns in different colours. Finally, Octopus Scarf w/ suckers 🧶 #showmeyourknits
