As his second term comes to an end, I’m going to miss President Michael D. Higgins. It was nice having a head of state I fully respected. He may have been short of stature, but he was a giant of a man. Catherine Connolly has big shoes to fill, although I reckon she’ll do equally well.

There was a really good show about vampires on Channel 4 in the late 90s called 'Ultraviolet'. Idris Elba was in it. Don't think they ever used the word 'vampire' even once.

Got my yearly zoo pass renewed yesterday. It's gone up to €175 a year now, which is a bit of a jump. But given its €25 for a day ticket at the gate, and I go every couple of weeks, I'm still getting a good deal.

@huskyteer.co.uk Watched ‘The Curse of Peladon’ last night, the newer restoration from the Blu Ray. Definitely looks a lot sharper than it did on the old NTSC converted tape. Still a great story with Pertwee and Katy on top form. Lovely chars ( Alpha Centauri! ) and wonderful fight sequence.

Today's 40km cycle and the fish & chips I picked up on the way home.
