Superb meal in Osteria Boccadoro, Venice tonight

Lovely lunchtime Pale Ale and cicchetti in Venice after more backstreet wanderings and modern art exhibitions.

A day walking the fascinating backstreets of Venice with a break for wine and superior quality cicchetti at a favourite wine bar. Followed by excellent gelato on this hot sunny day.

What a fantastic beer festival this was. Many thanks to Kirkstall Bewery for a great event. My beer of the festival was Theakston1827 Old Peculiar from the wood. Sensationaly good.

La Corvée bottled January 2025. Appearance of Rosé Wine. Aroma fruity vinous and tannic. 2 year old Lambic aged on pommace of Poulsard grapes previously aged in amphora. Fruity, light vinous and tannic bitterness. Nice balance. Beautiful very long dry, tannic finish. Very refreshing on a hot day.

Stille Nacht Reserva 2022 Pinot Noir. Absolutely superb. Beautiful red wine flavours combine with fantastic Stille Nacht tastes that never dominates.

Oude Geuze Cuvée Armand and Gaston 2015. Absolutely superb. Aroma of wet summer wheatfield. Taste is spritzy, soft, mellow tart lactic acidity. Flavours of lemon with hints of apricot, muted barrel tones. Finish is very long, dry and satisfying An elegant geuze of high quality

Me and Our Kid agreed best beer of the day. Joseph Holt Mild & Mighty at the Old Monkey. Traditional strong Northern Mild.

Back in the UK. Back on the cask. Excellent pint of Joseph Holt Bitter at the Hare and Hounds, Shudehill.

Last day in Belgium ended in style at Poechenellekelder

Another enjoyable evening in 't Parlement a truly excellent bar in Halle. Superb choice of beers and great service. Highly recommended.
