Do batteries only make the daily maximum top-bottom spread (TB)? Clearly not. Pre-2023, they made up to 10x this spread when paid thermal plant ramping fees. Once thermal plant is outcompeted, batteries make 0-200% more than the TB (from 2023 onwards). Optimisation matters.

What do the charge and discharge profiles look like for batteries in CAISO (California)? With their longer duration, on average at 4 hours, the charges/discharges are longer than in Texas or GB. Interesting to see that as a fleet the actions can be longer than 4 hours
