I feel like I'm going way too deep into my NPC AI considering it's a game about throwing stuff in pools. Bah, different levels of aggression, perception, and reactions for all the NPCs would be fun to build. Plus it would be a neat system for other games.

The NPC AI now only cares about the player if they are doing something suspicious, like carrying an object or trespassing. You can totally tell that it works because the amazing square turns red when the player is doing something suspicious in their line of sight. ...I think it's cool. #gamedev

One day I will make my dream game, which is a cross between NHL94 and Hotline Miami. It was the first thing I tried to make in Unity 4.3 13 years ago. I knew nothing, so it didn't go very far. Luckily dreams don't die, they just go into hibernation.

Game dev is one of those glorious creative places where people can ask, 'Why?' and you should respond with, 'Why not?' Why is there an organisation of ducks seeking the destruction of swimming pools? Why not?

I legit jump scared myself exiting play mode and forgetting that I moved the camera to check something... I should start recording myself working on the game so people can laugh at how dumb I can be.

Don't forget the little tasks that can improve the user experience. Here I'm just zooming in and offsetting the camera slightly based on the player position when they talk to someone. I feel it helps with clarity and emphasis. It's nothing glamorous, but not everything in game dev is.

Sick or not, the game dev must go on! So how about a little love for a reaction system I've added to the dialogue system that was written with a brain full of snot. I'm definitely going to need to look over this once I return to the world of the living. #gamedev
