Wow, I just found out that running on an angle while holding an object and then breaking the object on a wall and triggering dialogue soft locks my game. Game dev bugs are brutal. Test everything all the time, folks. #gamedev

Correct me if I'm wrong, but considering the sheer amount of knock-offs and AI slop on the Nintendo eShop, I feel like if you just sneeze in its general direction, it will let you put a game on there. It has been a while since I have checked it out, and, oh boy, it's a sight.

When something is taking longer than I thought, my brain screams at me. 'There must be a better way!' it screams. Is that an issue? Nope. It just means I actually care about what I'm building. Game dev brings out the best in me, and for that I thank it. Now back to the grind.

Game dev is one of those glorious creative places where people can ask, 'Why?' and you should respond with, 'Why not?' Why is there an organisation of ducks seeking the destruction of swimming pools? Why not?

I legit jump scared myself exiting play mode and forgetting that I moved the camera to check something... I should start recording myself working on the game so people can laugh at how dumb I can be.

The household appliance existential dread award goes to the microwave! Nothing like watching something count a minute down and remind you that you have just spent a minute of your life doing so.

If we are so hell-bent on hurtling ourselves towards a dystopian future, can we please get some of the pros that come with all these cons? A hoverboard would help when living in a world controlled by the wealthiest few and AI.

Don't forget the little tasks that can improve the user experience. Here I'm just zooming in and offsetting the camera slightly based on the player position when they talk to someone. I feel it helps with clarity and emphasis. It's nothing glamorous, but not everything in game dev is.

Sick or not, the game dev must go on! So how about a little love for a reaction system I've added to the dialogue system that was written with a brain full of snot. I'm definitely going to need to look over this once I return to the world of the living. #gamedev

Being transparent in game dev is very important. Allow me to be very transparent. If I ever manage to sell a game, that money will be used for Magic: The Gathering cards, Junji Ito books and booze. You have been warned.

Hear me out. What if I started remaking movie/TV tie-in games from the 4th gen of consoles and back but actually made them good? I would use the same assets, but the gameplay would be what people expected from the game rather than what they got. Genius? or financial ruin? Probably the latter.

The goal for today is to get this little guy to talk, but it's Monday, and my brain is protesting my polluting of it over the weekend...

Mmmmmm, I sense 1000s of hand drawn metroidvania projects being started in the next few weeks with the words "song" or "knight" in the title.

I love how game dev is constantly evolving. When I was a kid seeing the credits roll on Super Mario World, I was blown away by how many people it took to make it. Nowadays you are seeing projects with 10X the scope being made by a single person.

When people that use AI spend a bunch of time and effort trying to justify it to everyone, doesn't that say something about the whole situation? If it wasn't a crappy thing to do, you probably wouldn't need to justify it, right?
