I’m just here to say that an iridescent green skinny little fly landed on me today and sent me down a rabbit hole looking for what it was. It was a “long-legged fly”, a harmless little pollinator. Gorgeous metallic green like a hotrod! This is the sort of thing that makes me happy: Learning!

The world is too mean and sad for me. Over 60 years of feeling like an alien in the world. I remain tethered thanks to people and animal family, but it is hard. Why is it so awful?

Is there a difference between a couch, a sofa, and a davenport? And why is a vanity both that thing you sit in front of to put on makeup but also what the bathroom sink is in?

Today I dropped an edible in the bathroom and couldn’t see it and I was panicking because we have dogs who will eat anything sweet. My cat watched me look for it and then hooked a paw under the vanity and threw the gummy at me. Then he bit my toe.

I watched about 20 upcoming movie trailers today. They were all incredibly violent. There are many violent movies I enjoy, but ALL these movies were horror, blood, and monsters. I wonder what that says about us?

Today I thought my wife and I could get a king size mattress to the dump. Well we did. But it included me and a dog riding it down the stairs. Me falling down outside. Us renting a u-haul, and both of us exhausted.

Sometimes I wonder what we lose when we toughen up in order to survive the meanness of the world. “Grow a thicker skin” people say when you feel hurt. But callouses don’t just reduce pain, they also reduce nice sensations.

Sometimes I just want coffee. No milk or syrup or cold foam or stuff. Just coffee. Good coffee.

Small joys are actually the most important things in life.

When you lose a pet who isn’t old enough for you to even be grateful they died peacefully, it’s awful. It’s like someone ripped part of you away and you are left with leaky eyes and a lump in your throat all the time.

Bella got suddenly very sick and, after a visit to the emergency vet and exploratory surgery, we said goodbye. I am broken. She was just a year old. I wish you could have all known my goofy, protective, mama’s girl.
