The unconscionable decision to use New Years Eve as an acceptable time to replace the security bollards in the French Quarter, on the very heel of the Sugar Bowl, cost the lives of 15, and countless others who were physically or psychologically injured. The Sugar Bowl should be moved out of NOLA.

Another tragic mass casualty event has been unleashed in the heart of NOLAs French Quarter this morning. My heart breaks for the family members who lost their loved one’s, the many injured still hospitalized, and the countless bystanders who witnessed the horrific scene, as we usher in 2025.

In the 1953 movie Invaders From Mars aliens landed and controlled the minds of humans; the only way to differentiate between the numbed-out mind-controlled humans and those unaffected was a small nick in the back of the neck. Nazi’s had no neck lesion. And neither do Trump sympathizers. Scary times.

While combat exposure may be the leading cause of PTSD worldwide, the right to defend one’s homeland from attack, physically, politically, or psychologically, is sacrosanct; a fundamental human right of which the far far greater wound is not having done so.
