Honestly, for me momentum will naturally speed and slow depending on what's happening in my life. The key is that I'm excited to be writing so I always come back to the work. I.. don't? Probably not a very good answer but I'm such a burst writer that my momentum is largely driven by a combination of available (mental) time and motivation, and it's rarely consistent. But I do make a point to at least think about my stories daily if not open a doc to work too #GauntletChat

Lean into fun and self-indulgence! I personally struggle the most when projects aren't fun and exciting for me, and am trying to improve at adding in silly but motivating things into my draft, especially if it is only a first or even zero draft! #GauntletChat

Hello #GaunletChat! I'm Starla, writer of mainly middle grade fantasy and horror (but sometimes also YA/adult). My Novel Gauntlet goal is 30k words on a new historical fiction project! 🕯️🖋️

My project is inspired by shonen manga, esp. the manga Demon Slayer. I adore how many shonen manga are both silly and genuine at the same time, and it seemed just the right genre for a self-indulgent, for-fun&improvement project #GauntletChat

My horror WIP came from my former work commute 😅 There was always so much roadkill along the road and I wished I could bring it back to life (the forest god bits came later..).
