Beautiful piece, and it’s only this year I found out that it’s originally a Ukrainian pre-Christian song for New year in March, updated and repurposed by a musician from Pokrovsk in the early 1900’s. I have always enjoyed it, but I must admit to previously enjoying it in ignorance of its origins.
