androgynous #nonbinary people don't have unique privilege compared to other nonbinary people. androgynous nonbinary people are not the equivalent of masculine men and feminine women. androgynous nonbinary people are not the equivalent of gender conforming people

not all #nonbinary people are included in all orientations. every orientation has nonbinary people who feel included, it's just not *all* of us in *all* orientations. we are not a monolith.

this shouldn't even be a hot take, but there is no such thing as a gender trinary. there is no single #nonbinary identity that is more accepted as all the others.

when you're #disabled, merely acknowledging it is often seen as "being negative".

"bi" is still the most common label used by those attracted to more than one gender. this isn't really surprising, but interesting, because it means the increasing "#bi is exclusionary/outdated" rhetoric isn't sticking.

bi+ people make up the largest group in the queer community, while also being one of the most erased groups. many people think majority status equals privilege, but that's not true, especially if it's only a majority in a broader marginalised group.

#trans people are more likely than cis people to identify as bi+! bi+/trans solidarity has a long history, and if a bi+ person excluded trans people from their attraction, it's because they're antitrans, not because they're bi+.

about 20-30% of #transgender people are straight/hetero. this is part of the reason why "straight" alone can never be synonymous with "not #queer".

the transgender flag was created by Monica Helms in 1999. it was inspired by the bi flag created the year before, and was designed symmetrically, so it always hangs the right way up. 💙 is for transgender men 🩷 is for transgender women 🤍 is for nonbinary people

"does #queer mean #gay?" queerness contains gayness but it's also so much more, and queerness should never be measured by how gay someone is. many people seem to think "queer" only refers to orientation and in particular the same-gender attraction kind. queerness is intentionally broad and vague.

ngl, i was kinda shocked that one of the most googled question about queerness was "can #queer people date men?" like what do they think the G and the B stand for?? what's the silliest question about queerness you've seen?

"does #queer mean you're attracted to both men & women?" no! many queer ppl are only into one binary gender, only into nonbinary ppl or into no gender at all.

one of the most common questions we get as #queer people is probably "can you be queer and straight?" and the answer is yes! because straight #intersex, straight #ace, straight #aro and straight #transgender people exist.

we don't identify as nonbinary to "avoid oppression". we experience antitransness anyway.

not only is nonbinarity seen as a stepping stone towards binary transness, there's also the expectation that we have to validate the possibility for it to be a stepping stone, to constantly validate those who went through a "nonbinary phase", while being accused of "needing binary trans validation".

my queerness isn't incomplete for not being #gay. we shouldn't all have to be measured against gayness to determine how much we "count".

#nonbinary, #aro, #ace & #bi+ people aren't "halfway towards being #queer". we are already there.

being #bi+ isn't the only "stepping stone". some people first come out as gay and realise they're bi+ later. the bias is clearly against bi+ identities, when queer journeys are so diverse.

accepting #asexuality as a real thing but not as something fixed, stable, something you can be forever is still #ace erasure, and not true acceptance.

bi+ people aren't "actually gay but just have too much internalised antigayness". bi+ people are bi+. bi+ is an option. 🩷💜💙

certain queer identities like bi+ness, asexuality, aromanticism or nonbinarity, are seen as ticking time bombs, just waiting to explode to reveal what really lies beneath.
