Since the Big Mess of a Budget Bill did not pass on Friday, we members of the Budget committee were called into a meeting to vote at 10p this evening. Republicans rushed to jam through a bill that makes the largest cuts to Medicaid and food assistance in American history. The fight continues.

If Republicans are really interested in being fiscally responsible, don’t just take SNAP, Pell grants, Medicaid, and other vital necessities away from our neediest—take some sh*t away from the rich as well. But, no—you want to give more to the rich off the backs of American. Make it make sense.

Here in the House Budget Committee Markup fighting alongside incredible individuals like Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman. Working families CANNOT afford this bill and while we don't have the votes to stop it, Democrats are using having every tool we have to expose the greed of our colleagues.

It's been a long 17+ hours, but a small price for us Democrats to pay as we fight for the most vulnerable among us--our children, our seniors, our Veterans and hardworking Americans who sacrifice day in and day out. And, we're not done. The fight is on.

At 3:15am, Ways and Means Dems like @RepJimmyGomez and I were doing our best stay awake to fight for the American people. Hard to do? Nah. Mostly because of the absurdity of Republicans' unwillingness to protect access of basic necessities like food and healthcare for millions of Americans.

Fellow Americans, we're the "side chick." We're the side chick to the one person the Trump administration has married--the donor class--and they are giving them the real money while we're just getting a little piece on the side. But, we👏🏽will👏🏽FIGHT👏🏽.

Men lie. Women lie. Numbers don't. Giving money to the rich does not raise wages or grow new jobs. And how do we know? Because the 2017 tax bill did not grow the economy, did not spur manufacturing, did not bring new jobs. We know this because the numbers tell us that.

House Ways & Means Democrats are hard at work at an all day-all NIGHT hearing to debate a $5.3 TRILLION tax giveaway to the wealthy. Some of the cuts to critical programs include cuts to food assistance (SNAP) to the tune of $300 BILLION Big Beautiful Bill my A$$.
