More Spring checklist! With current weather conditions, now is the time to do some spring cleaning and clear your storm drains and gutters. Clear or trim dry grasses, and dead or dying vegetation. Preparations start at home, and there is no better time than now. #FirePrevention

Spring checklist! The sunshine is here, and it is a perfect time to step outside and create defensible space and improve your home’s wildfire protection. Take advantage of the nice weather by clearing dry grass, and clearing dead or dying vegetation.

⚠️Derailment cont: Approx 20 to 25 box cars derailed. No hazardous spills, no injuries reported. Expect significant delays on I-80 eastbound. Crews remain on scene to support scene safety, monitor conditions, assist with securing the area while railroad officials investigate.

⚠️Just before 7am this morning, #TMFR and Storey County Fire responded to a reported train derailment near USA Parkway and I-80. First-arriving units conducted a thorough size-up and coordinated with rail personnel to assess the situation.

With already dry conditions and early signs of wildfire risk, we could see an increased number of Red Flag Warning days this year. Now is the time to stay vigilant. Avoid outdoor activities that could spark a fire, secure trailer chains, and follow all local fire restrictions when in effect.

After a major snowfall, to the extent they are able, we always encourage our residents to be proactive with this effort and keep hydrants on or near their property clear and free of snow and debris.

February is National Burn Awareness Month. Cooking is the leading cause of home fires and associated burn injuries in the United States. It is responsible for nearly half of all home fires, often stemming from unattended equipment, such as frying or cooking with high heat.

TMFR and Reno Firefighters have knocked down a single story house fire on Riata Circle in south Reno near Geiger Grade. Five occupants are out safe, but home is uninhabitable. No injuries reported. Reported to have started from an E-bike in the garage.
