Reminding folks that they can play Nintendoland with their Steam Deck is still my favorite capture card trick.

$600 for a base handheld is a lot, but it also feels in line with offerings from Lenovo and Valve. Still, it'd be a great time for older Z1 and Z1 Extreme handhelds to start selling for heavy discounts.

Good news: Someone made Cemu for Android compatible with external displays. Bad news: It still doesn't work great for dual screen devices not using external displays.

It'd be interesting if Game Keys were a response to MIG Switch making duplicate and fake cartridges much easier to produce.

OneXSugar, Pocket DS, and now the Ayn Thor. As glad as I am to suddenly have new dual screen Android devices, I'm not sure my wallet can handle all of it.

Looks like the Ayaneo officially launched their Pocket DS campaign. The early bird price of $400 - $500 (with varying RAM and storage) seems about right for this device. Unfortunately, like most Ayaneo Android devices, the regular price seems to be a bit much.

Microsoft finally enabled Game Pass downloads on their ARM-based machines. 🎉 There're also no guardrails for compatibility (which is a good thing). Games I had problems with on Steam seem to have the same problems here, but I'm more than happy to have access to them as compatibility improves

Genki sent us some revised free Switch 2 accessories. The original case and grips they sent felt great, but these second run versions feel a lot more form-fitting.

I feel like far too many creators don't think to use camera equipment for gaming purposes.

Ayaneo teased a dual screen Android handheld earlier today. Could be interesting if it manages to come in below the OneXSugar's early bird ($600). Though, it's worth noting that (regardless of their marketing) it's far from the first dual screen Android handheld device (flip or otherwise).

After getting stuck in customs for over a week, my MagicX Zero 40 arrived. If nothing else, it's certainly unlike any other handheld I've ever used.

Found a Lenovo Legion Go S kiosk at a local Best Buy today. Very nice machine, but, oddly enough, the software demo wouldn't show the SteamOS interface. There was also no way to physically lift the machine without breaking the kiosk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm surprised it took this long for an issue to happen. Before MIG launched, plenty of folks on Reddit talked about dumping and selling games.

I feel like Joy-Cons are a severely underrated part of the Switch's appeal as a handheld. I mean, what other handheld is styled to allow users to replace their controls wholesale without a complicated mechanism or opening the system?

Love to see videos like this that give depth to games I'd likely otherwise overlook.

One downside about owning so many handhelds is returning to my LCD Steam Deck every so often and immediately noticing that the display doesn't look the best.

Super interesting that Target's online store still sells so many 3DS and DS games. Most games could probably be bought for cheaper on eBay or a LGS, but (if they are actually new) some prices aren't far off for new copies

Just got an email that DNA Duo is being pushed back to July or August. Given that Retroid's releasing their display today for less than a third the cost, I imagine any market momentum the project once would've had is over.

So far, the Gamecube controller won't connect to any other device via Bluetooth or USB-C connection. Emulators, Steam, and my MacBook (in general) clearly recognize the controller when it's wired, but they don't receive any input. Steam even asks for manual setup while showing a generic controller.

Additional spec sheet from Retroid's YouTube channel. Looks like they're aiming for a fairly premium accessory. The note about other device compatibility also seems interesting depending on how they connected the display. In their renders, the bottom of the clip appears to sit over the USB-C port.

I appreciate that Game Key cards have a little key printed on them. That'll reduce a bit of confusion down the line when these games show up in secondhand shops.

Switch 2 EyeToy mic

Looks like Retroid beat DNA Duo to the punch by announcing a clip on external display. Everything's vapor until it ships, but I imagine lots of folks will find this more comfortable than the cursed "force two DS screens on a single display" they'd been doing.

Turns out it works great for Mario Kart World. Ngl, it feels worth it as a comfy Mario Kart controller alone.
