The truth is I never felt this vulnerable in my life. The rise of the far right is not an abstract subject. I will be unemployed fairly soon, then my visa expires. I'm unwelcome here and (professionally) useless in Brazil. I try not to succumb in despair, but I've been failing...

I really hope Brazilian health authorities do not adopt the name "sloth fever" to refer to #OropoucheFever. Hope the slaughtering of monkeys during the recent yellow fever crisis has taught us that the distinction between vector and reservoir needs to be done cautiously.
