Jupiter is just about at opposition (it’s closest point to Earth this year) so I took this photo of it last night. The fact that I can take photos of other planets from my backyard is mind blowing to me. Photographed with: Canon t3i 600 mm lens 2x teleconverter Star tracker

I finally pieced together my full sequence shot of the entire annular eclipse from a couple of weeks ago. This was the spot we watched it from in Red Mesa, AZ. It was a pretty cool scene!

Almost two weeks ago I sat in northeast Arizona in the path of the annular eclipse waiting to capture the coveted “ring of fire” shot where the moon blocks out most of the sun. This is the shot I ended up getting. I love this shot for the symmetry and how you can see the imperfections of the moon.
