In today's edition of Mind Blowing discoveries, I encountered a plugin that allows people to delete potentially important information in the database in one click when it should be at least two. You never want to be one accidental click away from data disappearing.

As I dive into this product’s pipeline, I’m beginning to understand that what I’m doing can’t be easily automated. All of the pieces that make up a product’s pipeline are too unique to have one automated process go through it all. Humans for the win!

Here's a tip for all of you product people out there who have a plugin hosted on WordPress . org. Instead of linking to your plugin's reviews, link people to just the 5-Star reviews. This looks and works much better on a website advertising the product.

Evening at the beach was a success. Smoky prefers to run in sand and not water.

Looking forward to our first beach evening of the year tomorrow. It's after season, so smoky can be on the beach. Calm winds and clear skies should make for combing the beach for lake glass a fun activity.

Now that that review is out of the way, I have a better understanding of what I'm doing, what I'm offering, and how to package it to people. Still a work in progress, but I'm in a much better place.

I don't claim to have all of the answers. I have suggestions based on experience. A lot of experience. My suggestions might work; they might not. It would be great if product owners A/B tested them and shared the results with me :)

A lot of product owners have their heads down, grinding away on sales, making their products better, doing customer support, and a whole host of other tasks. It's easy for a lot of things to fall through the cracks. Unfortunately, some of those things are PRETTY IMPORTANT.

After about 10 hours total, I've completed my first review, which didn't even cover using it. There is a lot of low-hanging fruit that this product owner can pick for immediate gains. Things like Email Subject Matter, wording, and fixing broken parts of the website.

I haven't mentioned it much lately, but... I want to take a moment to thank everyone that's visited, subscribed, and stuck around to the streams and content that I make. Real talk: it's very hard to hit the "Go Live" button some days, and seeing everyone come around makes it all worth it.

I'd like to share a neat plugin with you called wordpress.org/plugins/view... View Admin As. This plugin enables you to switch between user roles to view the Dashboard. This is a quick and easy way to see if User Role and Capability checks are working. Great plugin for my toolbelt.

After 6 hours of reviewing a product's pipeline today, I've discovered broken upgrade paths, a broken affiliate program, several questionable decisions, a lack of cohesion between the product's site and the product, and more. This is what I'm great at and what I can do for you.

I’m in the middle of a “Fresh Perspective” product review and discovered that the links to upgrade to pro versions are generating fatal errors. How’s that for finding a revenue loss issue?

I’m livid. State Farm sent a notice to clean the algae and mold off the roof or they would cancel coverage. So I did. After sending photos of the clean roof, they’re cancelling the policy because the roof was not professionally cleaned. I can’t afford that. Man wtf.

One of the most interesting things I heard from the WCUS keynote yesterday is Matt mentioning the inability to transfer established context from one AI model to another. Having to start from scratch seems terrible. Here’s hoping that stuff becomes portable.

Overall, I enjoyed the WCUS keynote. I liked the discussions of AI and how WordPress could potentially fit in and be agnostic to all of the different models/agents.

The lack of Roles and Capability checks or their implementations in WordPress plugins is astounding. I routinely find myself in situations where I can see certain menus that I shouldn't.

I have an opportunity to get in at the ground floor of a WordPress Managed hosting company aimed at agencies, where I'd heavily influence the direction of the product. Most of what needs to be done is right up my alley. What to do, what to do.
