Teacher vacancies have hit a historic low – but it’s not good news. It’s a systemic collapse.

🫠 Leaks, overheating, mould… teachers in schools across the country are seeing the consequences of school funding cuts. The NEU surveyed members across England and the results are depressing – but maybe not surprising.

💔 This is what school cuts mean in reality: losing staff. 1,180 schools in England have lost more than £1M since 2010, in real terms. That’s equivalent to each school losing 7 teachers, 9 support staff, and 211 laptops.

❗ “It is indefensible that government continues to underfund schools. It is impossible for schools to meet the government’s ambitions on SEND support.”

“It’s a choke-up moment, isn’t it?” ⭐ SEND provision allows schools to give students a chance in life.

😵‍💫 Educators are being asked to do the impossible. Without proper funding from the Government, planned reforms won’t work and pupils won’t get the SEND support they need.

💻 Mind the (technology) gap. With school funding stuck in the past, we can’t prepare students for the future.

🚨 Education MUST work for all children. But if we want any SEND reforms to be successful, they must be properly funded.
