I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of our Labour Borough Councillors, Cllr Marion Couchman. My thoughts are with Marion’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of working alongside her, at this incredibly difficult time.

Last week I chaired the APPG on Pensions and Growth where we discussed the triple lock. The triple lock has been key to improving financial security for older people but we must now plan for the future.

I visited Kettlebrook Short Stay School to discuss the pressures facing alternative provision. Schools like Kettlebrook give excluded and vulnerable young people a vital second chance — helping them rebuild confidence and stay engaged in education.

Today marks Remembrance Sunday, a day to pause and honour all those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We especially remember the heroes from Tamworth and our local area who gave so much. Lest we forget.

I was honoured to plant a cross in the Speaker’s Remembrance Garden this week in memory of all those in Tamworth and our villages who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We will remember them.

This week I hit the road with the Business & Trade Committee, visiting Cambridge, Derby and Sheffield to hear from businesses, trade unions and experts on trade, skills and innovation.

Last week I caught up with Neil and Lois from the Zemo Partnership to discuss the UK’s transition to clean transport and achieving net zero. It was inspiring to hear about their work on low-emission vehicles, sustainable fuels, and greener transport systems.

Last week I joined local leaders at the Tamworth Strategic Partnership, bringing councils, agencies and community groups together to make Tamworth an even better place to live, work and visit. I’m excited to continue working with partners to build a brighter future for our town together.

I was thrilled to visit the new South Staffordshire College site here in Tamworth and spend time with Principal Claire Boliver. This investment in education is so important for our community, and I’m looking forward to seeing the difference it will make for students, staff, and the community.

Earlier this year I met Palestinian Ambassador Husam Zomlot to discuss peace and recognition. I welcome the recognition of Palestine - an important step towards justice and a two-state solution, where both Palestinians and Israelis can live in security and equality.

I was honoured to attend the service at St Editha’s Church in Tamworth, commemorating the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. We stood in remembrance of the brave pilots, aircrew, and all who served. Many thanks to the Royal Air Force Association for organising this important commemoration.

85 years on, we remember the pilots and aircrew of the Battle of Britain, and the whole nation that stood with them. Their courage helped defend our country at a pivotal moment in our history. A service will take place today in Tamworth to honour the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

This week I spoke up for Tamworth families in the SEND Petition Debate. Too many children with special needs are being failed due to limited places in specialist schools. I’ll keep working with Staffordshire CC and the Government to expand provision so every child can reach their potential.

I am pleased to see the Hillsborough Law introduced in Parliament this week. This is an important step towards truth and accountability. It stands as a tribute to the 97 who lost their lives, and to the families whose courage has shaped change for generations.

I was delighted to meet EURO-winning Lioness Lucy Bronze MBE this week in Parliament. We discussed grassroots football while celebrating 25 years of the Football Foundation’s investment in sports facilities. It was inspiring to see how this investment has supported local projects here in Tamworth.

This week I voted against an amendment to the Renters' Rights Bill that would have made rental deposits higher for pet owners. I’ll continue working to ensure that renters are treated fairly, and that owning a pet isn’t a barrier to securing a safe and affordable home.
