Picture this: it's 2028 and you've got your brand new PlayStation 6. You can't buy a physical game disc for it, but you CAN buy a brand new physical game for the Sega Dreamcast, a console that launched 30 years prior. 🤔

Another quick thought, if you've been paying attention Ubisoft has been making almost ALL of their physical releases basically keys to D/L their games (Avatar, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, Star Wars Outlaws, etc) Each one has had 'Internet Required to Install this Game'

The God of War Saga has a code for the GoW Origins games, which were also released physically (and shown in the picture below) so you'd have to double dip, but at least you can own them all physically on PS3

Someone posts this with Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5, which only had the base game on disc, the Phantom Liberty DLC was D/L only🤦‍♂️😂 ONLY the Xbox version (shockingly) was completely on disc w/the PL DLC

This is going to HELP Nintendo from a software sales perspective If they embrace physical & move away from GKC's collector's will move back to their system And POSSIBLY influence their decision to keep physical for their NSW2 successor Wouldn't that be a kick if that happened.🤔😅

On personal level, I collect the Shin Megami Tensei games (& spin-offs) so if only Nintendo is left standing, that's concerning Because Raidou Remastered was a GKC, so was Persona 3 Reload So if Sega doesn't change their mind, expect to see ALL SMT games going forward as digital or GKC only😔😐

The next 18 months will be devs, limited pubs scrambling to get their games signed up to get put on disc, etc. Just like with Vita Unless there's an overwhelming demand to push that deadline back (unlike Vita carts, blurays are STILL being manufactured) Jan. '28 will be the end, period.

I've seen people asking about limited publishers having the ability to publish PS5 games w/o Sony's involvment That's not going to happen, like Nintendo, they have their own pressing plant & production facility As soon as they shut that down no more games I really don't see an alternate happening

Like I said in another comment, this is a TRUE statement They broke something on the backend payment processing, so PS3/Vita stores couldn't do CC's anymore The ONLY way to buy games on those storefronts is to add $ to your PS4/5 wallet, then use that on your PS3/Vita store accounts

I still don't understand how they are going to 'fingerprint' a disc There are no digital markers on a OG Xbox game disc, so how will the system determine that my Halo 1 Xbox copy is 'digitized' vs. me lending it & someone doing the same thing This system makes no sense in that regard🤔🤨

Here's how you're going to get your PS1 re-releases through Hamster putting them on current systems If Sony can't be bothered to support them natively, then someone (Hamster) is stepping in So yeah, either 🏴‍☠️ or no games for you

Also expect to see the death of pretty much all boutique game publishers There will be hold outs doing NSW2 games, but when that dries up, unless they pivot there won't be anything left to publish So say goodbye to LRG, SRG, SLG, Red Art, Rock it, etc, they won't exist or in the same way as before
