Executive function is weird. Sometimes it feels like a gas tank with no gauge. You’re going along fine, until you can’t go anymore and it doesn’t matter how much you want to.

I think maybe I’m going to start working more with colored pencils for the smaller drawings. The markers are harder to use for details and the colors don’t always work out the way I planned. Since alcohol markers fade over time, I need to remake my color guide. It isn’t accurate anymore.

It’s PD week and my classroom is still not completely set up, my house is a disaster, and I definitely haven’t been reciting my affirmations. BUT I’m going to make it to the gym three times this week. I have to draw the line somewhere.

PD Week, when every day is a combination of meetings that could have been emails, actually important learning opportunities, reconnecting with friends, and shocking realizations about changes I didn’t expect. I guess fatigue is understandable.

I have to work this hard every day till the end of May? I’m not sure which is more horrible, that I have to, or that most people never get a couple of months to chill between bouts of unreasonable capitalistic productivity.

Picking up my portrait drawing class where I left it (just starting on eyes).

I got an email on Monday saying I had a doctor’s appointment this morning at 8:00 which is weird because my little wallet card says next week in the afternoon. So I went in and they asked if I’d eaten. It was a fasting blood lab so I have to go back tomorrow. It makes more sense now.

I have an extra day. I thought our report back day was Friday but it’s Monday. So I think it’s happydance time. Old school nerdfighter style.

It’s my second to the last day of summer. My house is in chaos, I need to go to the gym, and my classroom is moved but not reassembled. I. JUST. WANT. TO. DO. NOTHING.

Finally home. It’s so hot here. Anyway, here’s a picture of the Yellowstone geothermal feature I found the most impressive in person. It’s the porcelain basin. Or anyway, part of it.

I went to see Old Faithful because it’s expected. I arrived late in the morning and the parking lots were full. It took some time to find a spot and then there was a good bit of walking. There’s a glass building in front of the geyser and then a road and then stone benches in two rows. People…

It’s astonishing how many people just happen to have a sharpie with them when they visit a gas station bathroom.

I did see old faithful and many amazing geothermal thingums but the hike to and from this view was the thing I’m happiest about accomplishing this week. Tonight I’m as a KOA with WiFi. Car camping is what made this vacation affordable for me. One night at a hotel can cost between $300-$750…

I can’t really upload pictures because of spotty cell signal but the pictures are going to be amazing when I can.

Breakfast when camping is my favorite meal.

So much driving. Set up the tents and now I’m making dinner. I swear I wore the seatbelt while I drove. Took this while stopped at a gas station.

Just dropped the dogs at the kennel in preparation for my trip and the house already seems too empty without them.
