Summer after summer, neighbourhood police officers across Bournemouth East are redeployed to the seafront, leaving areas like Charminster, Boscombe, and Springbourne feeling under-served and vulnerable.

It was was a real pleasure to come together with the community to talk about rebuilding the much-loved bridge crossing Holloways Dock at Hengistbury Head. The community want to rebuild the bridge in a way that protects wildlife, respects the landscape, and supports people.

In Bournemouth East, public servants who gave decades to serving others are being let down by a broken system. When outsourcing fails, there needs to be accountability.

Dr Alex Blower, founder of Boys’ Impact and a Research Fellow at Arts University Bournemouth, launched a new national report in Parliament this week. His work is important because it listens to boys and helps build a culture of respect, dignity, & belonging.

Brilliant to hold my surgery at Boscombe Library today — from social care to postal deliveries, the athletics track at Kings Park to leasehold reform, thank you to everyone who joined me.

I had the best time talking to Year 4 pupils at St James’s on Monday about their work on pollution, and the thoughtful ways they’re already thinking about looking after our planet. They spoke so confidently about litter, plastic, clean air, and the small choices that add up. 💚

Pets are family, and too many owners say they’re bracing themselves for the bill before they’ve even stepped through the door. The Competition and Markets Authority warned that market problems could cost households up to £1 billion over five years, with prices rising much faster than inflation.📈

Proud to speak up in Parliament for the 145 Bournemouth East residents who signed a petition to introduce regulation and licensing for dog and cat rescue centres, and to thank our local animal rescues.

Last week I signed the Book of Commitment to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. Shortly after my election, I visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp to honour the memory of those murdered. We must stand together against hate and antisemitism.

Bournemouth may be a young town, but its history bears the weight of sacrifice. During the First World War, our Town Hall (then the Mont Dore Hotel) was requisitioned as No. 8A Indian Hospital, caring for hundreds of Indian soldiers wounded on the Western Front.

Midwives, maternity support workers, and maternity care assistants are doing extraordinary work, but they’re being stretched too thinly. And everyone feels it. Ensuring the right staff are in the right place at the right time is vital to the safety of women and babies.
