Why do so many people confuse materialism with the path to happiness? Even so many religious or spiritual people. Science shows that the threshold above which money will make you happier is pretty low and it can even make you less happy. And all religions tell you to not be a greedy bastard.

The sky was filled with these ripples everywhere you looked yesterday as the sun was setting. It only lasted a few minutes before they started dispersing. Sometimes you just have to look up and you realise you’re at the right place at the right time and perhaps you need to slow down and enjoy It!

There are many different ways we label ourselves and others. But sometimes I wonder whether we are not just putting ourselves into more boxes. Whether it might be better for all of us going in the other direction. Humans! Do we really need anything more or is that just dividing rather than unifying?

At the cinema watching Minions! I always had a soft spot for the Minions. However I also see similarities to people who always follow the herd blindly and disregard their own intuition and moral compass. It’s what got Trump and others like him elected!

Sometimes the weather can’t quite seem to make up its mind on what type of weather it wants to be. I always liked that phenomenon. It reminds me that we as human beings don’t have to put ourselves into boxes either. That we’re the happiest when we’re just who we are! Self, rather than persona or ego

…I think religious scripture is meant to be read, not literally, but the way we read myths and fairytales! There might be a valid message, however i isn’t found if you read it literally! Nothing has divided us more through times than religion. Perhaps that’s what the tower of Babel tries to tell us!

This is how most of my artwork is created. It’s assembled intuitively after finding the right pieces, photographed and then disassembled and recycled in other works. Just like real life it only exists in a fleeting moment after which all that remains is a photograph!

Yesterday I came across this picture that I painted before Trump’s second presidency started! At the time I thought it was outrageous and too much, because surely not even Trump could be that deluded and grandiose. Yet I couldn’t get the image out of my mind. Now it nearly seems like a prophecy.

…it’s 3am! For some reason I can’t fall asleep. I’m wide-awake. Luckily, it’s the summer holiday, so I don’t strictly need to fall asleep now! However, it is still quite annoying! And of course by being annoyed, it becomes even more difficult to fall asleep! Luckily this doesn’t happen very often!

Bedtime! I finally managed to get my bedroom back to looking cozy - sometimes my chronic pain means that I can’t do all the things that I would like to! But today was a fairly good day and I’m looking forward to getting some sleep!

…some days I just feel completely uninspired! Perhaps it’s been because of multiple small interruptions. Perhaps it’s the rain outside when I just wanted to go for a walk! I haven’t wanted to make music or art and I feel too restless to read a book or watch a movie! Any suggestions?

I’m off to bed now! I recently started dreaming more. It’s nice and it can also be quite fun to try to interpret them. I find that once I do they reflect what’s going on in my life at the moment and sometimes make me aware of subconscious stuff too. Jung was onto something, I have to admit!

Speaking of religion and spirituality! Isn’t it curious that they all describe phenomenologically exactly the same thing, when they have spiritual experiences! Even more interesting you can have these experiences as an atheist too! Perhaps we should stop letting our beliefs divide us!

… still trying to learn how to play the piano! This time it’s a guilty pleasure of mine: My heart will go on! I truly do enjoy singing it although it’s far from a lot of the music I normally listen to! It’s not the easiest singing and playing at the same time though!

I thought I would share a couple of pictures with you all from the place where I grew up - the Faroe Islands. Growing up of course, none of us appreciated the beauty and would complain about the weather. Good weather here is considered no rain! Warm weather is above 12 degrees!

The main take home message of any religion and spiritual direction is: have compassion, be kind, don’t judge and don’t be a greedy bastard! It makes me wonder why so many people claiming to be the most religious do the exact opposite! The cognitive dissonance they must be experiencing!

I suffer from chronic pain after three big cervical disc herniations that left scarring on my spinal cord. Cold baths really help keeping the pain down and I try to make it into a cozy environment and I’ve actually come to enjoy them. Something I never thought would happen.

Where have all the flowers gone? I remembered this song - that’s sadly enough just as important now as when it was written! I’m trying to teach myself to play the piano - it’s my third day so don’t be too harsh!

AI should be used to benefit all humans and allow us to work less and focus on human connection and creativity, which science has proved makes us happier. It shouldn’t be used to line the pockets of billionaires or corporations, who are wealthy because everyone has accepted the rules they created.

…a nice walk around my neighbourhood! Pretty peaceful apart from the little mermaid that’s crammed with tourists! Still pretty cloudy and only 21 degrees in stark contrast to other parts of Europe at the moment. However, it’s still different than it used to be.

Fun fact! There are two creation myths! In the first man and woman are created equal and all is well. In the second they are not and they fall from Paradise. Apparently this fall from paradise happened around 6000 years ago. The same time the patriarchy arose as a result of materialism! Coincidence?

So my last post was hidden as adult content! It’s an artwork collage and it contains images of some of the most famous statues in art and absolutely nothing that should put an adult content warning on it! I’m sure Michelangelo would be quite disappointed! Now I censored it. But I’m disappointed.

If you feel like music doesn’t quite resonate the way it used to there’s a scientific reason! All the emotions and everything that makes it human and that releases all of those feel good chemicals is hidden in all the purposeful imperfections that AI and autotune remove…

…sometimes you have to treat yourself to a little bit of luxury! My all time favourite perfume! I like that most of the money doesn’t go towards paying for celebrities to advertise for it and instead it’s focused on quality. I also like that it’s molecular and doesn’t smell the same on two people!

Science shows that compassion makes us human beings happier. It shows that once our basic needs a met, the threshold above which money no longer makes us any happier is fairly low. It shows that people who hold wealth lack these essential skills! So why do they run the world? Why do we let them?

…while most of Europe is boiling, Copenhagen is cold, rainy, windy and grey! Unfortunately this has become quite normal in July… It used to be different… It concerns me how quickly the climate is changing.

Is one of the greatest achievements of capitalism convincing us all that anger is a lesser and “bad” emotion?! Rightous anger is often a necessary emotion to drive necessary action and chang as well as in setting boundaries. Right now I believe we’re not angry enough about the current state!

Both kids spent today being creative - my daughter by making inspirational posters for her room and my son by making these pink paper flowers for his room! It feels like quite the parental success! Confident kids who create what they like and don’t care about what anyone else might think!

I see so many different languages in my feed! I’m not used to that from other some platforms - it’s nice actually and it made me grateful for all my language lessons in school! One good thing the past year has been that Trump has managed to unite Europeans like never before! Together we’re stronger❤️

I’m actually really excited that there is now a social media platform with verified human users and not owned by the tech bros! I believe it’s vital for freedom of speech. As an artist and a medical doctor, I have been deep diving into what makes us happy as human beings. We need human connection.
