💡 Did You Know? Depression is often missed in the elderly. Elderly folks with chronic health conditions and related impairment in functioning may be at greater risk. According to the CDC, depression among the elderly ranges from 1-5% for those living in the community.

October is #DepressionAwarenessMonth. 💚 Gallup reports that more than 18% of Americans are living with depression for the second year in a row. Disparities in diagnosis and treatment accessibility remain, as does the stigma surrounding this mental illness.

💡 Did You Know? Depressive disorders are a category of mood disorder. Some of the ones you may know of include major depressive disorder (also known as clinical depression), persistent depressive disorder, post-partum depression, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and seasonal affective disorder.
