Every month, my studio is open three days a week for local rescue organizations to bring their foster animals to the studio for portraits. Below is the result for June! These absolutely perfect babies come from We’re OK Foundation, OK Humane Society, Miller's Cause, and Misfits, Mutts & Meows.

I don’t need family drama. I have my own internal conflicts.

Today’s #tongueoutTuesdsy model is the aptly named Mr. Big. He came to the studio with his 2 housemates for portraits for their mom. He drooled (a lot) on the paper background, which was tidied up in post editing. I now have a more favorable opinion of English Bulldogs! #dogsofbluesky

I often see people here recommend books and almost as often, I pop into my Libby app, locate the book, and tag it “wish list”. When I finish one, I move on to the next. So far, they’ve all been worthwhile. I will never get bored and there will always be an intimidating TBR “pile”.

Milly says “Happy #caturday!” Milly was in the studio in early 2022 as part of my foster portrait days. The studio is open 2-3 days per month for animals in foster care to get portraits to help them get adopted.

Whatup #whiskersWednesday fans? This is Chewy who came in shortly after a terminal diagnosis from the vet. While not exactly thrilled with the whole modeling thing, her portraits are such showstoppers that she’s on the wall as one of my samples in the studio! #catsofBluesky

I’m headed to a funeral today but it’s still #caturday! These are foster kittens photographed in 2022 and probably my first two-cat image. I don’t have their names with me, but their cuteness will do for now.

It’s #tongueouttuesday time! Bess was my Breed of the Month winner for Terriers way back in… I think it was February 2022. She happens to belong to a neighbor and I still see them now and then when I’m out walking. Bess loves to slobber all over my hands when we stop to chat! #dogsofbluesky

Some days I get to live my best life. An example is when the kids bring their new babies over for updated portraits like they did this weekend. And then they all stayed for Family Game Night! Bijou and her brother are now 16 weeks!

It’s already #whiskerswednesday again! How exciting!! Tibby left us during Covid, but she was always a willing model, and this portrait (which hangs in our hallway/gallery) portrays her long whiskers beautifully. They were exceptionally long for such a narrow kitty.

I didn’t track how many books I read in 2025, but this year easily surpasses it, only 5 months in. Currently reading books 37-39 for 2026. Yes, I am reading 3 books at once. 1 legit physical book, 1 ebook, and 1 audio book. All fiction bc the real world is all the non-fiction I need rn.

Dog photography tip: for a great head tilt (not all dogs will respond) try an unusual noise they haven’t heard before or often. Suggestions: Cooing Meowing Peacock calls Caw like a crow Kazoo Harmonica Use new sounds only on rare occasions as most doggoes adapt quickly and will get bored easily.

Our crusty old man-cat, Earl, is having a dental cleaning and extraction today. Fingers crossed everything goes well for him. He’s got issues.

Poppyseed’s ride-or-die BFF is Cinnamon Swirl (OK Humane Society) and she is the perfect best bud, sticking close to her blind bestie to make sure Poppyseed is always safe. She’s also super irresistible on her own.

Here’s Poppyseed (OK Humane Society) in a solo portrait, behaving for all the world like a sighted kitten, despite her eyes having been surgically removed due to a painful infection. She’s completely normal except for that whole vision thing.

Cinnamon Swirl (l) and Poppyseed (r) are a bonded pair from OK Humane Society. They must be adopted together. Poppyseed’s eyes were surgically removed after a severe eye infection and a lot of pain. Cinnamon is Poppy’s seeing eye cat!!
