A beautiful day for a visit to @matthaeinichols We saw some of my favorite wildflowers, got to view the lightening scar on the giant burr oak tree, and even spied a killdeer nest right off of the pathway! The tree should survive and the bird’s mate was nearby patrolling, so all should be well. 🌱

Planet pendants are back! This past week’s excitement over the Artemis II mission brought to mind this design from a few years ago, and I am making more! Ocean jasper really lends to a planetary feel. The purple is dogtooth amethyst. Nice connection between Earth and space during Earth month. 🐡🎨🌎

Final one for this evening was done on a favorite background of my homemade black walnut ink with a layer of wet grizzly and poplar yellow paint from @beampaints I just love the shimmer from the mica in wet grizzly! Definitely thought of flower centers and earthy petal shapes. 🎨 #intuitivedoodle

Flower-inspired? Started to think spring as I built this up into brighter colors. I really like the narrowing in the middle and then the opening flare of the shape towards the top. Departure from paper and into fiber! This is a miniature experiment in sculptural basketry. This particular one is intentionally “wonky”, as it was built up intuitively as I wrapped the cord. A fun and tactile expression, and I am looking forward to playing with this technique! #sculpturalweaving

This was one of the black walnut ink backgrounds. Added gold gel pen outlines and then the black ink lines in the white space. Looked really messy, so I rotated and voila! I suddenly liked the movement in the line work. Looked like night-sky so I added white gel pen to finish. 🎨 #intuitivedoodling

As we are in the traditional pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs) time, my mind went to ancient Trypillian designs, which are brown, white and black. The kraft paper really goes well here. 🎨#trypilliandesign #gelpen #penandink

Tonight’s play was more botanical. I had sketched an azalea bud from a photo last spring and added color with my markers. Didn’t quite have the light gray/green of the leaves, but pretty close. The real star is the deep pink/purple of the flowers. 🎨🐡🌱 #azaleabud #botanicalart #markers
