The window #garden resembles a zoo, a sort of terrarium, a glass contained ecosystem that does not belong. My crooked, leggy plantlings feel vibrant against the snow outside. I made pasta salad. It's the greatest pasta salad! I don't remember where, but I once read that your best chance of covering most nutrients is ensuring your food has loads of different colors. I got ecru, maroon, iceberg lettuce green, basil green, and black. #cooking

#gardening in winter. Planted a few dozen of onion sets. Should have green yummy spring onions poking out before December is out! Just got to keep them indoors where it's warm. Once these have progressed enough, will do more. I enjoy having a #kitchengarden on my window while there's snow outside.

I needed bigger wheels. Improvised #DIY #Lego pieces - cedarwood moth repellent discs, hot glue, a drop of olive oil (so that the axle slides out once the glue sets). Worked like a charm!

Last week's frost left the #garden gooey and soggy

So pink! A maple tree at the parking lot of an unremarkable grocery store, yet it has the pinkest leaves I've ever seen. Had to touch them to see if they were by any chance some Chinese plastic. #autumn full of #autumnleaves

Finally, a #harvest where I don't need a matchbox for scale! Behold - my potatoes. That's the entire lot. What they lack in quantity, they compensate for in size. The biggest one weighs 630 grams.

Mid-October raspberries. The bush is full of them—deep red, juicy drops. There are still lots of them past the first couple of frosts, too. Even though the sweetness has been gone for a while, they're still a joy amidst browning autumn leaves. #gardening #

#doom and #gloom get doomier and gloomier. Legless, armless horrors are drawing waves. Shouldn't this be a time of joyous abundance?

Not exactly as advertised... yet? I planted this just this spring, so honestly, I wasn't expecting anything for another year or two. #gardening

Why should time and geography be the ones deciding whether this is spring or not? I am starting Spring 2.0 right now. Central heating and electricity should make up for whatever nature refuses to provide. Seeing things grow makes me happier, so I'll try to grow my own happiness. #gardeningindoors

Lesson learned: melons need actual time to grow. Pictured: one quarter of this year's melon #harvest. We ate half of this one, seeds and all (tastes like a surprisingly sweet cucumber). I have a bit bigger melon still out there, hoping it ripens a bit more. Matchbox for scale.
