Another great gig last night at Backstage@Green Hotel, Kinross; Fairport Convention. Four great musicians, lovely harmonies, and the perfect sound mix meant you could hear each instrument perfectly. Good to get my good friend @kpw1453.bsky.social along to his first gig in Kinross.

Hacienda Riquelme yesterday, very tough course, but great fun. Lots of bunkers and a good amount of water too. My best round of the week, 8 over par. Managed to drag myself into joint third place in our competition (out of eight).

El Valle Golf Course today. A good bit easier than yesterday’s course, and my game improving a bit, so 33 stableford points. Should have been more, but at least moving in the right direction!

La Ramblas GC today; beautiful, hilly course but a bit bonkers with lots of sharp doglegs, big carries, and huge drop offs. Apparently “Ramblas” means ravines in Spanish!! Another 26 stableford points today, not good. 😢

Very lucky to be in Spain this week golfing with mates, after my recent holiday with Mrs B. Played Las Colinas today, lovely course, terrible performance by yours truly. Managed to scramble to 26 stableford points. 😳 Best 3scores out of 4, so fingers crossed for improvement as week goes on!

Great couple of days in Vancouver. Stars of the aquarium yesterday were definitely the sea otters and the sea lions. Today, a visit to the wonderful Granville Island market, then a long walk along the sea wall. Heading home tomorrow 😢

Went to see Vancouver Whitecaps tonight. 7-0 victory over Philadelphia Union! Unfortunately Ryan Gauld is injured at the moment, but Thomas Muller bagged a hat-trick on his birthday.

And today we visited the beautiful Butchart Gardens. Expectations were high, but they were exceeded by a country mile! Simply the most stunning gardens I have ever seen.

Today we ran into some elk…….

Whale watching today. Didn’t plan to take any photos as I only have my phone camera now, but the orcas swam right up to our boat! Also, our flotation suits caused much hilarity!

Finally succumbed and went for a blueberry scone yesterday. Given that it was on a BS Ferry, I have to say, it was remarkably tasty. Expectations were low as it was pre-wrapped, but it was bloody delicious!!

As we have been travelling around The Rockies we’ve revisited Neil Young’s back catalogue. What an outstanding body of music it is too! Outside the obvious albums, my favourite is “Old Ways”. “Out on the trans Canada highway there was a girl hitchhiking with a dog” youtu.be/rShbTzcRwm8?...

So I’ve been trying very hard not to eat cake and/or scone this holiday. However I succumbed this morning and chose these bobby dazzlers for brunch. Amazing, and much larger than the photo suggests!! Hot off the griddle too. 😋 Well done to Historic Hat Creek Ranch.

All about the waterfalls today in Wells Gray Provincial Park, near Clearwater. Triple Decker Falls; Spahats Creek Falls; Helmcken Falls. All beautiful in the glorious weather.

Today we took a boat trip on Maligne Lake, and stopped off at Spirit Island. Absolutely beautiful. Also bumped into an elk this morning near Jasper, and saw a moose 🫎 on our travels. Another cracking day. #JasperNationalPark

Made it to Jasper, lovely little town recovering from devastating wildfires last year. Very excited to enjoy bannocks for my starter tonight. Brought over from Scotland many years ago by fur traders, the recipe was picked up by the indigenous population and adapted to local ingredients. Delicious!

So today was dominated by our visit to Columbia Icefield & The Skywalk. Great fun, walking on the ice in glorious weather!

Oh my goodness. We’ve been on the Icefields Parkway today, and the scenery is just stunning. Every day since we arrived, there seems to be an even more magnificent view around the next corner. #alberta #canada

A lot of fun today visiting Takakkaw Falls, then the Golden Skybridge.

Made it three beautiful spots yesterday: Johnson Canyon, Moraine Lake, and Lake Louise. Wow! #alberta #therockies

Forgot to post yesterday 😱 Picnic lunch at Cascade Pools before a little boat trip on Lake Minniwanka. Amazing weather continues. Today we move on from our Canmore base.

Cracking day in beautiful Banff. Weather unbelievable again!

Not got out of Canmore yet and the scenery is simply outstanding. And the wildlife too!

Well, we made it! A long journey that involved leaving home at 3.30am and then flying back over our house 10 hours later 😱 but we’re here now in Canmore, Alberta. Better photos to follow hopefully, this is my tired, jet lagged effort.

So, our adventure has begun! Early morning flight from Edinburgh to Schiphol Airport. Now a four hour layover before we set off again……

Good fun today at Monifieth GC outside Dundee. Gubbed 6&5 after a poor front nine, but a much better inward half meant an 8 over par finish. Didn’t get too much help from my playing partner to be fair!

So my competitive season comes to an end after losing the semi final of the senior club championship at Leven Golfing Society today…….at the 24th hole!! A great match against a lovely opponent, so absolutely no complaints.

My last last trip to Leven for a while, so rewarded with a beauty of a fruit scone from The Troff. Yum!

Frustrating day at Dunblane GC. Four birdies, but a double bogey to finish, so six over par in total. Could have been so much better! 🤬

Hotel Caledonia tonight at The Ferry in Glasgow. Band fronted by my old “yooni” mate who I haven’t seen sing for over 35 years. Great night out. Actually quite a big crowd in but most folk sitting upstairs at tables, so the dance floor looks empty!

First home game of the season. Enthusiasm slightly curtailed by the 5-1 drubbing last week. Need a bounce back victory today. #PTFC

Some lovely twilight golf at Dullatur GC tonight. Standard of golf still poor though, off the boil at the moment!

Shopping trip to Glasgow today. Fruits scones for lunch at John Lewis. Got to be honest, I’m sure they used to be better? A bit dry and “claggy” although doing the job in terms of a base for the butter and jam!

What a great start to the day! Fantastic fruit scone from The Troff, Leven, accompanied by a lovely pot of tea and my library book. Off to the golf course next.

Beautiful day for first league game of the season at McDiarmid Park, Perth. Will be a really tough match against a strong St Johnstone team. Home team have cleverly split the Thistle support over two stands! C’mon The Jags.

After the energetic walk at Pitlochry GC (it’s pretty hilly), the clubhouse was a revelation! An amazing selection of home made baking on display. I opted for the ‘fleas cemetery’ and it was absolutely delicious. Here’s the remains that I remembered to photograph 🤣

Picked up Pitlochry GC on the way down the road today. After some rain to start the weather came good for the back nine. Cracking views, lovely course. Terrible front nine but one over par for the last eight holes cheered me up a bit!

Amazing day today at Castle Stuart Golf Course, just outside Inverness. Wonderful course, fabulous weather, rubbish golf!

Had a great day at The Ladies Scottish Open at Dundonald on Thursday. With smaller crowds than the men’s equivalent, it’s a much more enjoyable viewing experience. Boy, the ladies can play! They are amazing. Here’s Nelly Korda and Grace Kim. Rather pleased with my camera work 🤣
