In 1992 InterCity was proposing a new station at this site (Washwood Heath), where the Birmingham-Derby lines go under the Stechford-Aston line. It would have meant changing trains for central Birmingham if Birmingham Heartlands had been built. Unidentified images taken in 1978.

Former Coventry Transport, East Lancs-bodied Daimler Fleetline 22Y (CKV 22D), by then with the West Midlands PTE, was pictured in Berkswell September 24 1979 on a photographic trip. The batch of 22 vehicles (1-22) had either East Lancs or Neepsend bodies.

Following significant restoration of the negative image shows. BMMO D9 4986 (2986 HA) awaiting disposal at Worcester depot in 1976. It still retained the pre-NBC Midland Red livery New in July 1962 at Bearwoord it also worked from Banbury before transfer to Worcester in June 1971.

There is a Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 at work on the First Eastern Counties Excel Peterborough-Norwich service today. In Network Norwich livery 36178 (BD11 CDX) departs from King's Lynn Transport Hub with the 10:10 'B' service to Norwich (08:40 from Peterborough).

Stagecoach East Midlands Envviro400 19130 (VX07 CYV) is one of two early examples of the type based at Skegness (19044 is the other one which is on extended loan). Both are expected to be taken out of service later this year. 19130 departs from King's Lynn with a 505 for Spalding

A couple of images of ECW-bodied Bristol RE BHN 687N during the time when it was operated by Wheels in the early 1990s. It is pictured in Nuneaton Bus Station and also going through the wash at Midland Red's Nuneaton garage where Wheels rented both depot and office space

May 11 1979 and Midland Red BMMO S17 5490 (6490 HA) works the penultimate 736 Coleshill to Furnace End and Lea Marston service. The two days a week service would be withdrawn as part of the National Bus Company's MAP revamp of service from Nuneaton garage

A visit to the small industrial estate next to Saltley depot was always on the agenda whenever I was in the area and this undated scene from 1978 shows why. Always plenty of locos on shed.

From the archives of 1978. West Midlands PTE Metrobus 6832 (SDA 832S) at Harnall Lane Garage, Coventry on the day it was delivered in June, while in October of the sale year 6835 (WDA 835T) was exhibited by MCW at the Motor Show at Birmingham's NEC

On May 18 1989, Class 156 SuperSprinter, 156500 - the 100th 156 to be built - undertook its pre-delivery test run from Washwood Heath to Banbury. Under the supervision of a Traction Inspector it is seen at Harbury Cutting, Tyseley Depot and being passed by Class 47/4 47517 near Banbury

Midland Red South received its first Leyland Olympian in August 1983. 901 (A541 HAC) carried an all over advert for National Holidays. When a few weeks old it was 'borrowed' to operate a shuttle between Nuneaton Bus Station and the Nuneaton Bus Rally & Model Show at the local Pingles Leisure Centre

After a small amount of restoration work on the negatives these images taken at Crewe on May 14 1979. Class 103 Park Royal DMU 56157+50401 Class 40 40185 with a Overhead Line train. Class 47/0 47204 is involved in a shunt move Class 86/2 86204 with a rake of Mk2 Pullmans

Following the replacement of the Bristol VRT's with Stagecoach Viscount in Peterborough a small number were transferred over to Cambridge. One of those transferred was 796 RED SQUIRREL (KVF 246V) which carried Peterborough Bus Company colours. Pictured on August 15 1998.

As a result of the Peterborough Bus Wars between July 20 1992 and February 27 1993, when Fen Travel started operations against Cambus Holdings-owned Viscount Bus & Coach, a low-cost operation was started. Trading as The Peterborough Bus Company, repainted buses were red and cream.

Class 08s busy going about their daily duties was once a common sight across the BR network. On August 5 1987 08935 (which seems to have a numeral missing and no BR logo) was pictured at Westbury.

April 28 1987 and Class 31/4 31420 powers away from Nuneaton with a service for Norwich. Behind the locomotive is a Network SouthEast-branded Mk2 BFK and the locomotive has gained an Eastfield depot 'Scottie' dog graphic

There were no details with the image but we have been able to identify it as being taken on November 11 1983 at Carlisle (the location was the easy bit). The locomotive appears to to be Class 85 85010.

This was the only time I saw a Class 105 Cravens DMU vehicle in blue and grey livery. It was photographed at Stirling in either very late 1970s or early 1980s. Was a quick shot before boarding another train and unfortunately details of the DMU vehicles and also the date not known

The flower bed, and some much welcome bright sun and a deep blue sky, help to enhance these these images taken last week near Pottergate Arch in Lincoln

A raised vantage point and a zoom lens accentuate busy scenes at Lincoln's Central Bus Station.

The first photographs I took of Bristol FLF FLF453 (JAH 553D) were at Lincoln Road depot in Peterborough on March 8 1996. Later during June 1999 it was pictured on Oundle Road with a seasonal service and on June 2 2001 it was being used as a temporary drivers' rest area in Queensgate Bus Station

The first Viscount (Cambus Holdings) Bristol VRT to be repainted following the takeover by Stagecoach was B72 (SUB 792W) which was numbered 772 post takeover. It initially ran in all over white following repaint until it gained its stripes

Having visited a coach company this morning, what better way to pass the time waiting for the bus than to photograph an @lner.co.uk Azuma speeding south at Essendine

It's the first day of the new Oxford Tube timetable. From today, coaches will stop at North Acton on the A40 for easy access to the Elizabeth Line at Acton Main Line station.

Another trawl of the archive images has unearthed a collection of images of Viscount's Bristol VRTs.

ADL Enviro400 19007 (MX06 XAG) with Stagecoach East Midlands is stored pending a charity donation., It was new to Stagecoach Manchester in 2006 moving to East Midlands in 2013. A little known fact is that it was 'borrowed' by Stagecoach East in June 2006 for a Media event.

The Tees & District livery was certainly eye catching. Our photos at Whitby from 1996 show DP-seated Optare Vectra 1512 (K512 BHN), Bristol LH 1703 (LPT 703T) and Leyland Tiger/Plaxton Paramount 1313 (E273KEF), although the coach looks overdue some TLC!

June 2006 and Stagecoach East in Peterborough borrowed an open top Metro's Mk2 from Stagecoach East Midlands for East of England Show shuttles. Still in RoadCar livery was 741 (WOI 3001) which in closed top form was new to West Midlands PTE as its 2571 (POG 571Y).

Surely when the design proof was signed off for the Stagecoach East Midlands InterConnect branding someone would have noticed that when an advert was fitted it would result in the words 'with places' becoming meaningless - the 'Connecting people' part of the phrase is obscured

A quick calculation at the end of February showed that 83 buses with Stagecoach East Midlands now carry the 'Steel Blue' livery - exactly the same number that carry the obsolete 'Beachball' livery (although three others are in the Aspire-derived 'Beachball' scheme

Stagecoach East Midlands' Enviro400 19208 is part of the Reserve Fleet and based at Lincoln as an operational spare vehicle (not included in the PVR spares calculation). It carries unbranded Interconnect livery.

It is unusual for the roof of Stagecoach buses to be painted when vehicles are repainted these days, which gives Enviro300 27788 of Stagecoach East Midlands an unusual appearance after having the roof fully painted when it received the new 'Steel Blue' livery

Just three Stagecoach East Midlands Enviro200MMCs (26265/68/71) now carry the light blue TwoFifty livery and branding. Pictured in Lincoln earlier this week working a 53 service to Grimsby was 26268.

A couple of archive Yorkshire Coastliner images from June 1996 in Whitby. Then operated by single deck vehicles, Volvo B10M/Wright 452 (N452 HNY) is ready to work the 840 Leeds service while on an X40, which avoided Goathland, was Volvo Olympian/Alexander Royale 422 (M922 UYG)

July 18 2007 and Stagecoach Peterborough's Volvo B10M/Alexander PS 20848 (P848 GND) departs Queensgate Bus Station with an X8 service to Thorney. The bus was new to Stagecoach's Manchester operation

East Yorkshire (Scarborough & District) in Pickering in June 1991 and heading for Helmsley with a 128 service is Mercedes-Benz 709D/Reeve Burgess minibus 439 (F439 GAT) while Scarborough-bound is East Lancs-rebody Leyland Leopard 235 (DDZ 236)

When the destination program was updated at Stagecoach in Peterborough in April 2004, there was an interesting version for the Summer Sunday X98 Seaside service. The display outward from Peterborough was 'Hunstanton X98' but for the return 'back home X98'

July 11 2002 at Penzance and Virgin Trains Class 47/8 47829 in its distinctive 'Police' livery is at the head of the 1M56 08:46 departure to Manchester Piccadilly.

There was an interesting selection of Departmental and stored units at Strawberry Hill depot on March 7 1996. They were photographed during a visit arranged by Eversholt Leasing ahead of the closure of the Research & Development facility at the depot, which closed on March 31 1996

With Cambridgeshire-based A2B Travel is an Enviro400 registered BU05 JOK. Originally registered MX07 HNF. New to Stagecoach Manchester as its 19164 at mid-life it was transferred to Stagecoach East in Cambridge before moving to Stagecoach East Scotland. Now back in Cambridge.

Took a ride on the Cambridge Busway yesterday - first time since speed limit was reduced. While understanding reasons for the fencing work, bus operators have lost hundreds of passengers to other travel modes as the perception of 30mph limit is that buses are crawling along.

Strange symbols, resembling an oversize QR-style code have recently appeared on a number of Stagecoach vehicles in Cambridge. I didn't scan for fear of finding I'd bought the bus! Seriously, its a trial to look at alternatives to the physical transponders that are fitted to activate traffic signals
