Okay, I'm FINALLY posting something about actual history.... have you ever stayed awake until 3 am with one question gnawing at your mind: how long did it take to reach your destination during the Regency in England??

The new Cambodian genotype causing all the new cases is a cross between the older Asian clade and the newer western clade, which is the one in the US. It's kept the same CFR as the older clade: around 50%. We don't know when it will mutate to spread h2h, or what the CFR will be when it does.

There's literally almost zero mainstream coverage, but the new #H5N1 genotype has been blowing up cases in Cambodia over the past month. The fatality rate is still 50%. There are no new mild cases. So the CFR is what is. Not likely 50% if all cases were caught, but probably 15-33%.
