USS Nautilus had a support role at Midway. Pn her first patrol in the war, she spotted and fired torpedoes at the battleship Kirishima on June 4th (they all missed). She submerged, rising later to spot a Japanese carrier. Nautilus was then attacked by a Japanese destroyer. (1/2)🧵 #NavalHistory
