📍18 May 1929 - Barcelona Delegates at today’s FIFA Congress turned their attention to selecting a host nation for the first world championship, scheduled for next year and every four years thereafter. Bids under consideration came from Spain, Czechoslovakia, the Netherlands, Sweden and Uruguay.
