Look, even fungi have problems if they are given too much alcohol! This is growth after one week on Malt Yeast Extract Agar. Top row - 0% ethanol, middle row - 5% ethanol, and bottom row - 10% ethanol.

Itโs hard to believe these aptly named rhizomorphs are not actual plant roots! What you are actually seeing are the melanized hyphae of the fungus Armillaria gallica growing in pure culture on an inoculated petri plate!
