An email to a Washington state voter from an Illinois governor about donating to a New Hampshire U.S. Senatorâs election campaign sent via a New Mexico U.S. Senatorâs email list he never signed up for is one way the system is broken.

I bet the collective nostalgia around Dr. Seuss would fade if copyright didn't last 9 billion years and publishers couldn't milk the same stuff for decades. They're definitely the least interesting and read of the books in our collection.

Is It Time to Move On From Dr. Seuss?
August 12th marks the 65th anniversary of Dr. Seussâs Green Eggs and Ham, a book whose orange cover fills me with delicious nostalgia. Svetlana Boym defines nostalgia as âa longing for a home that âŚ

Time for an update!
Okay, so, it's been a while since my last post. But I've been busy! In addition to my job at 18F (RIP, more on that here), I've written a ton of music and done a bunch of art over the last couple years. Blogging's fallen to the wayside. But! Big changes are happening. My five-year plan is in the garbage, I'm looking for a new job, and I needed a better spot for my portfolio than a Figma deck.

A very annoying thing about managed hosting is that there is literally nothing you can do when it all goes kaput thanks to :waves-hands: the internet. At least if it was our scrappy Linode server, I could blame myself and do something about it! đ

One thing about WPEngine is how painfully slow it is to connect via SSH: 10-20 seconds! Pressable: 1-3 seconds; my Linode server: 1.5 seconds; Kinsta: 500ms. 20 seconds is such a flow interrupter. /gripe

TIL the interactivity API: works in iOS Safari 14-16 with an ESM pollyfill (removed in WP 6.7); not in Safari 13 due to a bug in Safari's Proxy(); and not in Safari 12 because of, well, everythingâbut! You can still make the core nav block work in 12 with a few lines of JS that worked 8 years ago đĽ
