I feel like entering this building I’d find an old-school front room with smoke-stained wood paneling, a peeling linoleum floor, maybe an outdated swimsuit calendar… and a plain door that opens to a back room filled with Norse gods feasting and drinking and laughing at all the silly mortals outside.

I watched Hazel O’Connor’s 1980 film “Breaking Glass” last night. Again. It’s been one of my favorite movies ever since I first experienced it in mid-80s. It struck me once again how relevant every aspect of it is to our world today. Just a magnificent piece of art. #BreakingGlass

I watched the 2008 short film “AM1200” yesterday. It was quite excellent and wove a tight and unnerving story in under 40 minutes. Fabulous mood and feel. Highly recommend. I suspect that most of the movies we make would end up in the 40-60 min range if we prioritized story over visuals.

I was an avid comic book collector from around 1979-85 before the demands of grad school, professional career, and raising a family dominated my life. Now, as I look toward retirement, I’m thinking about getting back into it… but fear the comic zeitgeist may have changed too much for me since then.
