Honoured to be guest speaker to talk about my EV experience at this year's Kangaroo Island Eco-Action annual general meeting, held at Strepera reserve on the north coast. Afterwards we went out to check out the Polestar, although there were Kona and Atto owners there, so preached to the converted.

Parked the Polestar alongside the KI Motor Club display at the Kingscote Show today!

The place name stickers I collected on my EV travels in the past few months are ready for placement on my charging board. Also going on soon is a new wall box charger that comes with my Zeekr 7X. Unfortunately I'm only on single phase, otherwise I'd be home charging at 22kW!

Stoked to have the Pixel Watch 4 waiting for me when I got back from my trip. So easy to set up and after 2 days of use, it works and looks fantastic. My first and last smart watch was a Series 4 Apple Watch, which I really enjoyed. Now I'm back with a watch, which came free with my Pixel 10 phone.

What a surprise to come home to the loquat tree fully loaded with sweet and juicy fruit The tree alone is worth what I paid for the small house and big block nine years ago.

Two things I missed on the road. Home cooked meals with veggies. Twig and I walks to the end of the jetty.

Home after a 9270 km EV road trip in the Polestar from Kangaroo Island to Newman, Western Australia, back through the south west. Twig and I very happy to be home after 18 days on the road! Later I'll go through numbers, cost etc and do up a map. Videos are up on Kangaroo Island TV on YouTube.

Double OMG! After giving it a 20% chance of sailing due to weather, I rock up 4 hours early, wait five minutes and I'm on the Spirit of Kangaroo Island freight ferry, fuel truck and all. I love SeaLink and told the skipper I wanted to give him a hug. I'll get home before 6pm. What a happy ending!

Stopped at the #1 charger in all of Australia at Snowtown for a top-up charge, as well as another vindaloo curry and a tea for breakfast. Australian Electric Vehicle Association will announce the new best charger at next month's conference. So windy, doubt my ferry will be sailing this evening!

Charging at Port Augusta on our way south through Adelaide to catch the ferry back home to Kangaroo Island. Feeling an overwhelming sense of sadness that this is the last road trip in my Polestar.

Spectacular sunset a fitting end to a big 780km day and just an amazing 9000km EV road trip. Tomorrow a quick jaunt across the rest of Eyre Peninsula then down through the city to Cape Jervis to catch the ferry home. Today's trip stats: 781.9 km 17.4 kWh/100km 08:23 h 96 km/h ODO 58 411 km

Arrived Kimba roadhouse to put car on charge to 70% while we got our curry. Spicy vindaloo of course. Set up camp at council free camp, had dinner in camp kitchen, then EV conversation with flummoxed grey nomads. Booked 7pm ferry tomorrow, so very sad this could be last night in Hotel Polestar.

Just a quick top up from 40 to 80% at Wudinna, mainly to stretch our legs and use the facilities, even though we could have easily made the final 100km to Kimba. Border line icing by this Rogue! Twig does not approve.

Hooray!! We're back at our happy yellow RAA chargers!! Made excellent time covering the 300km from Nullarbor to Ceduna, arriving with 20% thanks to huge tail winds, although lost some to rain that hit about 100km out. Next stop Wudinna and might make Kimba tonight for one of those curries!!

OMG! Never thought I would love Tritium so much. Had a small doubt that it was my car's fault at the Sinexcel Border Village NRMA charger, but should have never doubted this magnificent vehicle. Arrived Nullarbor Roadhouse with 66%, now heading to Ceduna and civilisation. Full speed ahead!

Well that was absolutely intense! Massive thunderstorm and almost 2 hours of rain and lightning. Poor Twig is freaked out. Thankfully passed now, car is back on charge as I was ready to duck for cover at first sign of hail. Now puddles all over Border Village. Ordered eggplant lasagna for dinner.

Made it 200km in strong headwinds to SA and Border Village but the new NRMA Sinexcel charger won't communicate with my car. NRMA tried resetting it. I tried all the apps but it just won't work. Rather than backtrack, just going to chill and slow charge here for the night. Needed a break anyway!

Finally got to try the legendary Madura Pass bangers and mash. Lived up to expectations, at least in size. I put on a load of laundry while I ate, as I ran out of clean clothes. Now kicking back in Hotel Polestar doing socials, car on 15amp de charge. We're only 194km from the SA border!!

Wow! Who knew about the camel crossing just out of Cocklebiddy. So dangerous for the trucks. Also revisited the scene of the crime where I did that charge and dash at the Wedgetail Inn. Had a lovely chat and laughed about it with managers Dudley and Mel. Arrived Madura where we will camp tonight.

Woohoo we made it to Caiguna at end of the 90-mile straight. That's 90 mins of not turning the steering wheel. Charger now working as they fixed generator voltage. Maddie says they're going solar hybrid by January. Sausage roll, spring roll, Mother, sticker. Only 150km to overnight stop at Madura.

Arrived at the new Balladonia solar hybrid charger and heart sank a little seeing it being worked on, but it's all good. Love these solar hybrid chargers. Great to see technicians from Ampcontrol sent out by Horizon Energy to work on the equipment, fixing the communications on the inverters.

Made it Norseman and a Tesla was charging. Long chat with Eliza and Sarah from Sydney, on their way to Perth via Kalgoorlie, where they are seeing a dirt bike race. Good news all chargers east of here or working other than Wudinna that crashed due to a storm. Nice to see ladies EV road tripping!

This trip has had the best food. Got an amazing, succulent Chinese meal from The Emperor's Garden in Esperance. Not cheap but most definitely 5 stars! Also the emergency and lucky last campsite at the RAC van park also just happens to be the best in the park, tucked right up the back. So nice!!

Lovely drive to Esperance including under this mining gantry at Ravensthorpe. Charged and washed the car upon arrival, then secured the very last camp site in all of Esperance when the lovely ladies at the RAC van park gave me the emergency site. Now checking out the views before finding dinner.

Salad roll for brunch and a top up from 50% to 90% at the Soldier Settler farming town of Jerramungup, getting us to Esperance by 2.30pm.

Good morning from the Old Gaol at Albany! Now we head to Esperance with one charging stop on the way.

A quick tour of Albany today thanks to friend and now local Ross, including the wind farm at spectacular Sand Patch, one of Australia's first, commissioned in 2001. Fast-growing Albany sure is beautiful. Now watching Ross perform sea shanties with the legendary Shanty Men at the 6 Degrees Hotel.

Wow! Who knew you had to come to Denmark to get the best doner kebab in WA, possibly Australia. Sahan uses only the best meat, has his own marinade and the freshest veggies. This man takes pride in his food, made with love, and it shows! Views from Ocean Beach lookout pretty spectacular too.

Charging at Walpole, only an hour or so to go to Albany. Lovely drive with lots of twisty bits. Stopped once at a roadside memorial and also at an honesty stall for some oranges and chocolate chip cookies.

Good morning from Busselton! I think I found one of the best vanilla slices I've had on my travels, at Baked. Heading to Denmark on my way to Albany. No dogs allowed at any of the big tree attractions I wanted to see, so it will just be what we see from the road, as per usual.

Here we are in Bussleton on the southwest corner of Western Australia tonight. Warm and snug in the tent with the rain fly on for the first time this trip. Car on charge. Had a great time catching up with the lovely WA EV crew in Perth yesterday and this morning, which I'll post about shortly.

Caught up with a few Australian Electric Vehicle Association members in Perth today, including Chris the national president and also EV OG Rob with his 2015 Model S, who has advised me on my lap and current trip. Couldn't have done it without him!

Brunch of a healthier Calabrese focaccia and a tea while we fast charge thanks to the WAEV network. Tesla chargers sitting all forlorn off to the side, with this being another Supercharger free road trip, all 10,000 km of it!

Making friends and convincing others to take their ride and furry copilots on the road to see the beautiful scenery is what it's all about. EVs are most definitely not just for the city!
