It hurts to admit this, but in so many places around the world the thugs are winning. If the good guys - those who want more freedom and more dignity for more people - don’t start working together, we are screwed.

I read news from all over the world, and almost everywhere there is a sense that we are stuck, that we are all growing farther apart, that there's no path and no horizon. And yet deep down many of us *know* that things could be better. Do you agree with both feelings?

So no protests against the cold-blooded killing of Venezuelans and Colombians in international waters merely for the suspicion of smuggling? The silence is loud and weird.

There are exactly zero excuses left for not letting international journalists into Gaza now. Open the damn gates.

All the feelings: Happy and relieved this deal is finally happening. Angry it didn't happen earlier. Heartbroken by all the suffering. Hopeful and wary about what comes next. Determined to continue doing what I can. Loving the lovers and bored by the haters. Enough! And onward!

I was at a conference on Friday where someone said that as long as most people in the US have “lots of calories, cheap gas, and videos to watch,” there would be no real pushback against authoritarianism. We are about to find out if that’s true.

We so urgently need a global coalition of the kind and the reasonable. That’s the only thing I want to work on from now on.

Netanyahu while visiting a hospital and talking about the dead and wounded: “We are all paying a price. Even my son had to cancel his wedding.” Despicable moral midget.

What’s wrong when “they” do it, is also wrong when we do it. And vice-versa. Why is this so hard to grasp? Don’t target civilians. Don’t bomb hospitals. Don’t starve and terrrorize entire populations. No exceptions. And stop justifying it when it happens. What is wrong is wrong.

In this moment we are in, humanizing one another is more important than ever. A few weeks ago, a friend who works with children in Gaza sent me this photo from a workshop there. This could be my daughter, or yours.

The silence over the deliberate starvation of Gaza is the loudest I’ve heard in my life.

No contradiction between being an idealist and a realist. Realist idealists are the best :)

Few things are more urgent and important than seeing and *showing* that across so many of the lines that divide us there are good people who would give you a hand if you needed it.

A better world is crying and kicking to be born, and we can choose to be its doulas.

Now more than ever we need a global coalition of good people, of the kind and the reasonable, of all those who want to help build a world where all people can lead free and dignified lives. In a few days I’ll invite you to make this happen, and I’m excited to see what we can all do together.

I admit I’m surprised by the number of cowards and the depth of their cowardice. If your university has a $40 billion endowment, you can fight back. If every partner in your law firm is a millionaire, you can fight back. Giving up without a fight is a choice.

The thing about this latest thing, is that every American - no exception - knows what would happen if they were this careless at work.

Three days after October 7th, I wrote on Twitter that revenge is not a strategy. Countless horrors have taken place since then. But it feels as if these past three days are the worst. A criminal decision to kill hundreds of people purely for internal political reasons. Nauseating.

Don’t give up. Don’t stand down. Don’t stop. Be yourself. Be true. Be proud. Be.

It took us six months to build our office. You could easily demolish it in one day. Building is hard. Destroying is easy. Too easy. As we are seeing every day now.

The whole point of the First Amendment - one of the greatest achievements in the history of civilization, and I’m not exaggerating - is to protect speech that most people, and specially the government, may hate. THAT is the point.

Praise someone today. In front of other people, if possible.

So tired of being bombarded by news produced by liars, scammers, and killers, when most people are not that. We all deserve better.

Maybe simplistic, yet feels true: the bad guys are all working together. So the good people need to work together too.

We are not designed to absorb so much bad news at the same time, from all over the world, with no way to respond to much of it. We are like whac-a-moles trying to raise our heads for a bit of hope, and then we get whacked again.

Thieves want you to think that everyone steals. Cynics want all of us to be cynical. Nope. Not interested.

Everything is possible, but I wonder of today will be remembered as the day when Elon Musk peaked.

One of capitalism's biggest failings is making people think that there is a direct connection between wealth and ability. There is not. Some rich people are brilliant. Some are idiots. And some are brilliant at one thing but obtuse about all others. Wealth by itself means nothing.

Some rich people give generously. Some don't. Whatever. But some make it their business to make the lives of poor people worse. That's hard to forgive.

The very last thing we needed was the President of the US actively supporting the worst fascists in Israel. Basically delivering more gasoline to the arsonists. Ugh.

“Why can’t the Palestinians move to Egypt or Jordan?” For the same reason that Chileans don’t want to move to Mexico or Argentina. It’s their home, they love it, and they have a right to live where they were born. Not hard.

3,000 trucks of aid have entered Gaza this week. Finally. Let life win.
