A warning to anyone planning to attend a World Cup game: Do not attend a World Cup game in the United States. Even American citizens are at risk of being kidnapped, beaten, murdered, or placed in an inhumane detention facility. A football (soccer) game is not worth the risk. STAY HOME STAY SAFE

Hegseth is the worst of the school bullies we have ever faced. Contemptible, cruel, psychotic, sadistic, racist, misogynist, misanthrope. The one we were told would never prosper, because karma would catch up to him eventually. The one we couldnāt fight back against due to āzero-toleranceā rules.

Periodic reminder that Teapot Dome, the worst scandal in American history prior to Watergate, involved $9 million changing hands. Thatās adjusted for inflation. This story by itself is 55500% bigger than Teapot Dome. Thatās not a typo.

A day after The Late Show ended, Colbert hosted an episode of public access program Only In Monroe, reviving his 11-year-old gag. How bad is CBS/Paramount taking it? They issued copyright complaints for a show they don't own. 𤣠CBS would hate it if you watch here:

Was thinking recently about how you could sell UBI to the āpersonal responsibilityā crowd: āYou get $X per month, no strings attached. It is up to you to decide how to use it. If you blow it on booze, thatās on you. If you work and earn more, thatās also your choice.ā

On this lovely Friday Iād like to remind everyone that a four-day work week should be the norm by now, 120 years after the Haymarket Affair convinced the financial class that a five-day, eight-hour work week was in the best interests of their own health and longevity

I see a *lot* of anti-LLM absolutists on my feeds. And thatās good! Itās important to stand up for your beliefs. But they also need to understand that sticking to that line means they will find it extremely hard to get a job in tech until this bubble pops. Thatās just reality.

Openvibe still has some glaring annoyances/bugs, chief among them being that when I check notifications or reply to posts, my āfollowingā feed forgets where I was and shoots to the top of the feed. This is a deal-breaker for using it as a ādaily driverā social app.

BTW, if you are on iOS and are looking for a good client for both crossposting and for seeing one combined timeline from several social networks, OpenVibe is pretty good. It supports Mastodon, Bluesky, Threads, Tumblr, and I think a few others. It isnāt perfect, but itās quite nice.

Iām going to attempt to crosspost on Mastodon and Bluesky for a bit. The tough part is that I have way more characters per post on Mastodon than I do on Bluesky, so Iāll need to practice brevity again.

Creatives have been freaking out about genAI, but it is the rank-and-file coders who are, in my opinion, in the most danger. GenAI can only ape creativity, but it can be extremely good at grunt work, and 95 percent of modern coding is grunt work.

Thinking this morning about patterns of thought I fall into. Hyperbole. Bizarre/rapid-fire humor. Attention-seeking. Hypomania/depression. And, yes, various kinks. They all have one connecting thread: rapid, efficient generation of endorphins. This is a post about ADHD.

So Iāve had trouble getting into Bluesky for technical reasons. The lack of a native iPad app is a huge detriment, the web interface is lacking, and while a third-party app like Skeets is good, itās clunky compared to Ivory for Mastodon.
