I think we threw the winger can down the road when Diogo tragically passed. Liverpool then needed two strikers. That was their strategy. I expect centre back & LW or RW to be areas the recruitment/manager will target. Possibly a Wharton type to progress play in midfield. 3 in over the next 2 windows

Liverpool have had the toughest set of fixtures through game week 7. If we can get through United, Brentford, Villa and City unscathed, I think we'll take a bit of stopping.

Arne Slot did a phenomenal job last season, coming into a challenging situation & replacing a legend. He made it look easy. But y'know what? He's still a fairly young guy himself. And he'll not have been in any way prepared for what he's had to deal with the last few months. Not least his own grief.

Far too much analysis. Everything is rubbish. Far from it. We just need better structure and channelled aggression. Be more clinical when the chances come. There's a lot of talent at the club. Recruitment has to wait 3-9 months. Confident we can go on a run and challenge.

Slot mentioned addressing pace into the team post season. I believe he earmarked both full positions. Apart from the two 9s there's still an absence of speed in midfield and on both flanks. Arne has his work cut out. He's got to find a system and make it work.

You won't see worse defending across pro and amateur football all weekend. Robertson with his hands on his knees ball watching. Too late to react to the cross. Shocking.

Both Liverpool wingers are ball to feet merchants. Incapable of going on the outside and killing a full back. It's a major problem. Salah isn't that flying tornado anymore.

Hell of a foundation for Arsenal. They just don't concede many goals.

Hakimi/Mendes full back strength for PSG is mindblowing. Two gladiators who excel in defence and attack.

Gakpo and now Mo are ball to feet wide players. The pace isn't there to stretch a defence and go on the outside anymore. Major problem having that on both flanks. Mo can still devastate closer to goal as last season proved but we need to get him into them position and more crucially find him.

Slot bought two runners at full back. Give them the road. A coach has to adapt his system tp the players at his disposal. Bit of a similar role to what Wirtz had at Bayer Caption courtesy of @dankennett.co.uk

Positives. It's nice having these issues top of the league. Cheslea is now enormous.

The more I think about it the more Slot has to use a system to get the best out of the players at his disposal. Frimpong/Kerkez are runners. You can't restrict them at full back with less freedom to attack. Their build up isn't good enough.

Alonso got the best out of Wirtz by playing a 3421 formation. Any off ball deficiency or loss of possession was mitigated by players behind the ball. He had incredible freedom and confidence to do his thing. I remain unconvinced he can play in a midfield three particularly with our profiles.

Yep. A major worry.

Quite the drop from prime Salah & Mane and to lesser extent Luis Diaz. Appalling wide productivity. To think Arsenal has Saka, Madueke, Eze & Martinelli who can play there. We've nowhere near that level of class. You can have all the elite 9s you want. Who's giving them the ball.

Mane > Diaz > Gakpo. That's a major drop in pace, 1v1 penetration and the ability to go inside and out.

Liverpool have a major problem in the LW position.

When do Salah's legs completely go. An AFCON in December and a World Cup next summer. Liverpool need to be looking at that in 2026. Frimpong isn't the answer.

Arsenal have the deepest squad and more balanced team. Saka, Madueke, Eze and Martinelli as wide options. Eze can also play in a midfield three. Gives them greater offensive and transitional threat. Water tight defensively and huge set piece specialists.

Anyone of the opinion that Slot needs to find a way to accommodate Ekitike/Isak into the team. Dual threat of pace, technique, link play and finishing power. Worth thinking about.

A lot will champion Luke Donald to lead Europe in Ireland in 2027. Can't see it. Nothing to prove. Won on home and potentially foreign soil. Let's win it outright.

We can only control what we do. Just like Forest last season the defeat yesterday has to be a springboard. A lot more to come from the reds.
