And last but not least in this session, Edi Putra showed that an 8% tax on HFSS foods together with nutrient warning labelling would reduce obesity by 2.66 percentage-points [95%UI: (2.09-3.28)], prevent 110,000 [95%UI: (68,000-150,000)] CVDs, and save £66 billion [95%UI: (52-82)] over 15 years.

Helen Moore showed that 81.8% of a sample of 13-14 yr olds in North East England consumed high energy drinks. Most reported drinking EDs 2-4 times per week, strengthening the call for the proposed ban on high-caffeine energy drinks for under-16s in England.

Paris Lee analysed UK Millennium Cohort Study data to show persistent poverty and poor parental mental health significantly constrain young people’s capacity to achieve a positive and healthy transition to adulthood. More support is needed to equip a generation for lifelong wellbeing!

Luis Loria-Rebolledo estimated that 91 million hours of annual exposure occur within NHS Scotland open spaces, with an annual health benefits valued at £82.0 million [£67.8–£96.1 million], mostly from primary care sites. NHS open spaces generate significant social and economic value!

First up, our session about creativity and innovation in public health science. Andrea Mountain discusses the significant economic, social, and health challenges in coastal communities, which can often be obscured by national-level data #UKPHS20206
