Yesterday's global #parkrun attendance was a new record for the second half of the year, and the sixth highest ever.

Storm Amy caused many cancellations in UK/ Ireland/Norway on International #parkrun Day yesterday, meaning global attendance was <300k for the first time since January. Following German Unity Day on Friday, Austria saw a new national record yesterday, and Germany a new Saturday high.

parkrun Germany held their extra Special Day parkruns this morning (German Unity Day), with a large number of international visitors in attendance, and set a new national record, with over 5,000 finishers on a single day for the first time. Friday is still the rarest parkrunday (just 14 times ever).

13 years ago today I did my first #parkrun, and it eventually became a habit. There were just 176 events in 8 countries: UK+AF, DK, AU, PL, ZA, NZ and US. Daily finishers (most of which in UK) yet to pass 25,000. Now 2,263 events in 23 countries + 5 territories, record 390,750.

Global #parkrun attendance remains low compared to the start of the year (following the usual annual trend), however yesterday saw >300k finishers on a Sat in July for the first time ever. parkrun Canada set a new national record, 4 days after their extra parkrunday on Canada Day.

Today saw a new national attendance record for @parkrunusa.bsky.social, while parkrun Italy, celebrating their 10th birthday, equalled the record set last Saturday.

This morning saw the 20 millionth finisher at @parkrunaustralia.bsky.social parkruns, meaning a hundred billion metres have now been collectively run, jogged or walked.

March 2025 was the highest-attended month to date for 5k #parkruns globally, both in absolute terms and on average, with almost 350,000 runs, jogs or walks completed each Saturday morning.

Global #parkrun attendance is down from the usual post-New Year spike, but yesterday still saw the third highest number of finishers ever.

#parkrun Japan saw their 200 thousandth finisher on Saturday morning, meaning over a billion metres have now been run, jogged or walked in the country since 2019.

It's now two years since #parkrun announced their five year plan to double both the number of events (from ~2,200 to 4,400) and number of finishers (from ~250k to 500k) each weekend. www.parkrun.com/blog/news/20... @parkrunnewzealand.bsky.social set another national attendance record this morning for the second Saturday running and the eighth time in six months, with 12,741 people crossing the finish line at 56 events.

@parkrunauofficial.bsky.social and @parkrunnewzealand.bsky.social both broke their attendance records again this morning - Australia had 87,871 finishers (with a couple of results pending) and New Zealand 12,005.

parkrun South Africa had 217 events taking place today, equalling the record last seen in November 2019. More events were lost there following COVID than anywhere else, but the number has steadily regrown since, with the 300th inaugural happening this morning.
