Today is the perfect day to be happy. 😊

No matter how hard I try I never can make plain ceramics. Here’s my version of a tissue box holder with my dog Ella on it. Fetch a tissue felt like the appropriate saying to put on it 😂 she also adores playing fetch. Also those are not tissues that’s padding to hold up the weight while it dries.

This frame is capped brood. In a few days the baby bees will hatch from the cells. I am quite fascinated by the honeybees.

Today was inspection day in the apiary. I am so bad at spotting the queen but if you see eggs (they are the little rice shapes in the center of the cells) it’s confirmation that you have a laying queen.

I’m gonna miss homegrown tomatoes when they stop growing. I love them so much! It’s truly the taste of summer.

We love to take weekend hikes. This view was so beautiful today. 💙

This time of year for honey bees is called dearth. It’s after the spring bloom and before the fall bloom, so we supplement with 1 part sugar and 1 part water in inside feeders. Honey supers for human consumption are not on during this time. It’s also the best time to treat for mites.

When your home is your version of paradise, who needs to leave for vacation? I love our little corner of the world. It’s a lot of work but so worth it to us.

A lot of work goes into each piece I create. Once they make it through a long dry time and the first firing,! give each piece a rinse to get off any dust and then they get a brown wash to pop the details. Next will be to add the color and then a final fire. Which is your favorite so far?

Summer gardens have the absolutely best foods! This is basil, tomatoes and cucumbers sprinkled with cheese and marinated in an lemon, honey, herb, balsamic, olive oil dressing that was also homemade.

WIP this is a serving platter with mushroom handles a couple of little beetles and a spider. It’s part of a collection I’m working on called “Unexpected guests” it really “bugs” me when people drop in unexpectedly unless it’s my immediate family so that’s the inspiration behind the collection 🤣😍

Happy July 4th! We are celebrating with goodness from our garden. Salsa made with our garden tomatoes and cucumbers with homemade masa flour taco shells. We love tacos and the diversity of cultures that make our country a beautiful mosaic. Next is to bake chocolate chip cookies which is a USA origin

I love watching the birds enjoying free ranging. We have the cutest ducks, geese, chickens and rooster. It’s nice to have farm friends who also give us breakfast 🍳 They are quite egg-celent.
