Just popped into Curry's to ask about the warranty repair options for my Lenovo PC's; the HDMI port appears to have packed up. Take it into the store for shipping to the factory. 28-day turn-around, or 7 if I pay for extended warranty. Told that the hard disk will be wiped & reset to factory state!

I'll be filling in a gap in my movie-viewing back catalogue this evening when I see The Blues Brothers at the local community cinema, one of many classic movies that I just never got around to. On paper, it's right up my street... I should make a bucket list & get stuck into it. The clock's ticking.

And, just to make my data reconstruction that bit more time-consuming, my PC's HDMI port seems to have stopped working, rendering my 2nd monitor unavailable. Swapping cables & resetting BIOS defaults haven't worked, so it looks like a hardware fault - either the 2nd monitor, or the HDMI port itself.

A few of the 1st shots from my old Fuji S8100fd bridge camera that I reacquired at the @orielcolwyn.bsky.social Darkroom Clearout sale earlier today. Straight out of the camera, no edits. The colour image has no exposure compensation & shows some blown-out whites. -1 stop comp on the 2nd image.

Just visited the darkroom clearout sale at Oriel Colwyn. My mission was to buy back an old Fuji S8100fd bridge camera that I donated to them years ago, for old times' sake. Mission accomplished. Also bought a very old Fuji A900 compact (9MP, 4x zoom), one of which I had many moons ago. Nostalgia.

The "recovery" phase of the USB drive's rescue job took over a week to complete. Results are mixed - the directory structure is all over the place & some stuff is missing, for sure - not sure how much, yet. Meanwhile, I'm busy replicating LR's catalogue structure, in prep for copying the data back.

The price of stupidity is, it seems, £71.99. That's the cost of the software to recover the contents of my accidentally-formatted USB disc. At least it seems to be working, albeit slowly; 6 hrs to get to 3.8% of a 3TB drive. It'll be several days until I can copy the data back to the original drive.

I've done some pretty stupid things in my time, but today I excelled myself. I only went & quick-formatted the USB drive containing all my photos. I have a backup, which isn't quite up to date, but I'm currently running data recovery software, so should get it all back. Fingers crossed.
