I’m thinking Possibly this is the the Priority 2 species #Calytrix oncophylla that’s found on Lateritic breakaways! Distribution seems to match too! But Maybe it’s also just C. leschenaultii 🙃 I mean still either way a very stunning species of Calytrix!! 😍😍

Can’t really get a good ID on the #Haemodorum, but thinking H. laxum. Eitherway I love this genus for its weird as hell flowers! Looking as if they are a dead flower even though they are freshly open! So strange! Love them 😍

The bright lemon yellow flowers of #Gompholobium tomentosum! This small southwest endemic shrubs are widespread over a variety of habitat types usually in areas with sand!

#Ericomyrtus serpyllifolia, a widespread species and most widespread of the genus! It’s named for its like foliage reminiscent of Thymus serpyllum.

These super cute flowers are from the species #Adenanthos drummondii, a common lignotuberous species that’s can be found north and north east of Perth! It’s a low growing species that favours sandy areas, this one was growing in white sand in and area dominated by Leptospermopsis!

Pie dish beetle 😍 feigning death so I’m not tempted to eat it I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️ wish I could speak beetle to say that not what I want 😂

Tiny little predatory plants! Gotta love the tiny Bryastrum group of Droseras! This one here is #Drosera spilos a tiny one notable for its red markings at the base of their petals!

Gotta love Buzz Pollinated flowers! Especially these #Halgania anagalloides flowers! So vibrant they are hard to miss! The anthers of these plants are connected together via trichomes that leave a small apical pore for pollen for which hopefully the likes of blue banded bees can get access too!

Don’t be RUSHing to any conclusions to quickly, this ain’t no Restionaceae but instead #Jacksonia restioides! A common leafless species that forms a tangled mass of stems that do at first glance look kinda like a rush, and what is even better is those large show flowers!

This scrambly little pea is #Gompholobium marginatum a common pea named for its thickened leaf margins! This widespread species is easy to spot with these bright yellow flowers!

Sooooooo shiny!! Really is obsurd how shiny #Elythranthera brunonisflowers are! They really do seem to look as if they have been coated in enamel!

The ground is covered in sprinkles! No wait it’s just #Levenhookia stipitata! I love these little flowers! One can simple not get enough of them!

Such a hard genus to miss, these one are the small growing Cats paws #Anigozanthos humilis! This colour changing species starts yellow and goes orange as flowers age! It’s a stunner and I just love them 😍

It may have wings but it can’t fly (the quail I spooked accidently near by did tho…) this is the winged stemmed Dampiera, #Dampiera alata. It’s a wide ranging southwest species found growing in a variety of habitats, this one growing on a hillslope on lateritic soils.

I thought I saw Corn but no it’s just #Stylidium zeicolor, the Maize Triggerplant! This yellow flowered species is common through the Avon Wheatbelt, Esperance Plains, Jarrah Forest, and Mallee region, in a variety of habitat types!

Such strange pollen presenters on these rough leaved Grevilleas, #Grevillea scabra! Although a common species, it is found in a relatively small area in the Jarrah forest and Avon Wheatbelt region where it seems to favor lateritic soils!

Who would have expected a mass display of fireworks outside of Toodyay! This is the Spreading coneflower #Isopogon divergens, a common South west endemic characterised by is diverging leaves that spread out!

Got this #Restrepia trichoglossa as a little keikii from someone at my orchid society a few months ago and it’s flowering for me now 😍 sooo tiny and cute love this genus of orchid

Lobelias are always very hard to miss with their vibrant flower! That’s certainly the case with this #Lobelia rhombifolia, stood out like a sore thumb! This is a widespread species found over multiple states mostly throughout the souther parts of the country!

Gotta love Hibbertias! This one was scattered around flowering! I believe is #Hibbertia hemignosta based on what I could get down on the key!

I’m pretty sure this may be #Melaleuca aspalathoides! A stunning shrub with a very pleasing grey-green and pink combo! I love these low lying Melaleucas even if they can be a pain to ID cause there is sooooooo many of them!

Spiny as the name suggests #Mirbelia spinosa was out in full force showing off just how showy its flowers are!thei thorns are formed from branches that don’t fully grow and modify themselves into these sharp projections.

Found in the jarrah forests, coastal plains and wheatbelt, #Scaevola platyphylla is one showy Goodeniaceae!

I love the Haloragaceae family, and one of my favourites is the ever so showy #Glischrocaryon aureum! This family can be hard to ID but this one’s easy tho still a little tricky from photos 😅 they are a common species and have these sulfury yellow flowers that can turn red upon fruit set!

Long leaves, well more like long phyllodes! This is #Daviesia longifolia a widespread southwest endemic with some very long phyllodes! And, like many in the over 130 species rich genus, they can put on a spectacular floral display!

Did my brain think oh that’s a weird Hibbertia from a distance? Maybe it did, but this is in fact #Jacksonia condensata! One of the many prostrate species, this one bearing no spiney phyllodes, just many sprawling stems that produce these vivid yellow flowers!

This stunning climber is #Cheiranthera preissiana and it is part of the #Pittosporaceae! It’s a twining climber with stamens that are prominently held above the carpel! Like many of the twiners here in WA from this family it just gets covered in blooms! Very had to miss this one!

Lookin a little like a tiny Wandoo, Drummonds Mallee #Eucalyptus drummondii, is a common WA endemic Mallee from Enneabba to Margaret River! A stunner of a species with large flowers!

No I did not take a photo of the sky as much as it looks it aha! Nothing beats the intensity of blue from #Lechenaultia biloba! A WA endemic widespread through the southwest and into the Wheatbelt!

The ever so short lived #Agrostocrinum scabrum subsp. scabrum flowers! Dancing above their grassy leaves that give them the common name of the grass lilies! This widespread species is one of our native Daylilly relatives hense the short lived flowers.

What a stunning species #Stylidium caricifolium, The Milkmaid Triggerplants, one of the large flowered Triggerplants! This grassy leaved species I common in the wheatbelt area as well as northwards to the Geraldton sandplains in a variety of different habitats!

Can’t miss these flowers! #Patersonia Drummondii putting out its incredibly showy but short lived flowers, though they do produce them in succession! The highly saturated flowers of this species can be found throughout the wheatbelt region.

A very wispy inflorescenced saltbush! #Rhagodia preissii subsp preissii! May not be showy in turns of colour, but it’s a very pleasent shade of green surrounded by the orange of the laterite not that it can be seen here! Soon this shrub will be covered in red berries!!

Covered in flowers and spiny leaves, #Gastrolobium trilobum is one of many of our Poison Peas and this one here is quite distinct with its three lobed leaves that end in sharp spines! Making it a formidable looking shrub! This species is common in sandy soils mostly within the Avon Wheatbelt!

#Melaleuca radula lives up to its common name of the graceful Myrtle, this hardy and widespread species is commonly found in laterite, granites, and watercourses. They are a rather tall open shrub with prominent decussate leaf arrangements and 5 fused stamen bundles that looks like fringed petals!

From a diststance #Blennospora drummondi looks a little disheveled but upclose their dark maroon flowers are quite cute! This species is wide spread! Their name refers to their mucusy seeds which I guess must stick to animals to get around!

Anyone order sponges they seemed to have been lost in the bush 🧽 wellin fact these are the fruit of #Trachymene ornata a widespread species in the #Araliaceae, they look spongy thanks to the dense woolly hairs coving their mericarps and are by far the most showy part of the plant!

a sea of little buttons! #Panaetia lessonii may be small but can put on a show! These little annual daisies are found all through the southwest and into the dryer arid zones.

Out botanising this morning! May have almost stepped on a snake/legless lizard, I’m guessing it was the latter and saw an elegant parrot as well! But photos of all the plants to come! Some cool stuff out atm!

I love when there’s a plant that completely does not look like the rest of its family at first glance! That’s certainly the case with #Ceratogyne obionoides, a weird flower and fruited #Asteraceae that’s common throughout most of inland WA and into the souther parts of other states!

#Waitzia acuminata is an incredibly stunning species within the #Gnaphalieae tribe! And one of my favs it’s like a botanical flame! Plus those #Mordellidae Beetles were just loving the pollen! Sooo many of them!!

Wishing I was this Beetle on a Podotheca 😍 amongst all the wildflowers

The biggest of all the #Cassytha! C. melantha, one that prefers trees! This one was smothering an E. burracoppinensis, and was a common sight to see, an impressive species that is found around the southern parts of Australia!

Gotta love our prostrate Banksia species! Such odd species, at least when you consider all the trees and shrubs around of them! This ones #Banksia blechnifolia an endemic species between Jerramungup and Gibson area and one of my favs for its Ferny foliage!

#Orobanche minor time, this weedy species can be found all over Perth and many areas around the world! Now they are a ubiquitous weed parasitising a wide variety of plants, most likely enjoying the Nasturtiums in the garden bed!

The cute lil flowers of #Eucalyptus subangusta subsp. cerina! This subspecies can be found in central to east-central wheatbelt region, and is distinguished in adult form mostly by its longer than usual operculum than other species and when a seedling it has Glaucous leaves and stems!
