I don’t really understand how there’s a debate over X Power vs Results and their relevance. They correlate, but one is measuring individual skill and other is measuring team skill.

I used to have a lot of trouble falling asleep at night. Typically I’d find a YT video that was interesting enough that I’d want to listen to, but not so interesting that I couldn’t doze off to it. I had a few go to channels, but it would still take 30 mins on a good night and 2+ hours on a bad one.

Trying to impress someone new to Splatoon by imitating the intro to that Smash documentary by throwing for the first 2:30 of Turf War only to then finally “lock in”. Die instantly to a random splat bomb and there’s just awkward silence as my team loses by 40%.

My decision making for major life decisions was definitely sub optimal as a young adult, but I’m on an eight year run that is basically unmatched. I can’t help but feel blessed. This isn’t to brag. It’s to say: Never give up!

I used to grind those horrendous flash games on the Disney channel website for hours to try to get my name on TV with the other high scores. I thought if I did then Lizzie McGuire might go out with me.

A thing that is cool about Splatoon is I’ve played and won competitive sets where the VCs sounded like life or death situations and others where I couldn’t understand the language being spoken but 50% of the audio was inexplicable laughter.

You don’t see people limboing as much anymore.

Maybe it was just the Star Wars IP, but Rogue Squadron came out a year after Star Fox 64 and was much more engaging to me. This is not a plea to make every game “open world”, but flying around in full 3D is a pretty natural desire. I don’t understand why this series must stay on rails.

Tech innovation when my kid is a kid: We’re leveraging AI and cloud infrastructure to comb through trillions of files to answer any question you have. Tech innovation when I was a kid: let’s change it so that the logo right-side up when you use the computer.

If a new Splat Safety rises, I’d suggest they make their workload more manageable by focusing on safety issues. Combining rude and offensive behavior with actual safety issues doesn’t make anyone safer and clearly puts you in the position of appearing cruel and unsympathetic.

Splatoon is getting too optimized. I miss when that guy made the video proving that if you moved your character in a figure 8 pattern it eliminated shot spread in 96 gal and everyone believed it for 24 hours.

Willing the team to victory

Man, I really want a top 10 X rank badge, but I’m further from it now than ever. Cursing myself for not pushing myself more during the season I finished in 13th place.

A decent contributor to why there is so much burnout due to demotivation in this scene probably has to be everyone from the top down believing they’re terrible at the game. It’s okay to be proud of what you’ve learned and the progress you’ve made after hundreds of thousands of hours!

I need it explained to me why an early 2010s CollegeHumor-style YouTube video is up for an Oscar.

Every time I tune into someone’s tournament stream: • 1 second of gameplay followed by 30 seconds of preroll ads • the final 90 seconds of the match • 3-5 minutes of results screen, counterpicks, weapon selection • 90 more seconds of gameplay then 90 more seconds of ads load • I close the app

Honestly a great part about getting older is reengaging with art in a new context. I find myself falling in love with songs I’ve definitely heard before, but it’s like hearing them for the first time because the person I was when I first heard them wasn’t ready for them yet.

I know there are a lot of things preventing me from ever winning an SOS, but the new primary reason is my belief that going to sleep before 10:00pm fixes every problem.

I started telling the boy bedtime stories that I make up on the fly about him. They all start: “Once upon a time, there was a little boy named (his name)…” He’s such a fan, he’s now reciprocating by making stories about me. They all start: “Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Dada…”

Mid level should still be fun and everything, but the idea that society needs to restructure because everyone is unfairly stuck there is naive. A hard truth in life is sometimes you can give your all to something and want it more than anything else and still come up short.

I’m happy seemingly good movies were released this year and we don’t have a Best Picture category with filler like an Avatar sequel or more Wicked.

They might have nerfed Reef Slider a little too much

NBC did not just pull out the Banjo Kazooie music for this game.

2025 was a great year. I made some needed quality of life upgrades to the things I use everyday. I got to see the world anew all over again through my son’s eyes. Most of all, I gained a daughter. A year ago today, she was just a dream in our hearts and now she’s snoring as she sleeps on my chest.

Can’t help but notice the correlation between someone’s maturity and their opinion on the Gem stuff. Everyone older and/or with life experience stayed quiet. Let’s hope this can be a lesson applied to the other topics that whip this community up into a frenzy.

I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised, but it is amusing that the two year old treats his birthday like any other holiday so when you wish him a happy birthday, he wishes you one back.
