New seaweed guide being launched aims to inspire islanders to reconnect with Jèrriais language The seaweed that washes up on Jersey's shores have been given many different names over the centuries. Each different type has been named by islanders in Jèrriais based on the different characteristics or uses. It's something that fascinates Ethyn Maki who has researched the more than 50 Jèrriais names for seaweed and aquatic plants.
