I completed Klonoa. The whole thing is like a dream that ramps up in trippiness. We don't really make games that look like this anymore.

I needed something bright and colourful next so picked a game from my childhood.

I completed Final Fantasy Strangers of Paradise. A very strange game that is never not entertaining. Nioh 2 with Final Fantasy classes and 7 seconds of Limp Bizkit. Chaos.

Absolutely gutted to hear about Ubisoft Leamington being shut down today. Such a huge waste. So many talented people there and a real loss for the Leamington and UK industry. I hope everyone lands on their feet.

I completed Duck Detective. A cute, short Cursed Idol like. A little esoteric in places but a fun couple of evenings overall. Ducks were invented in 1692 by Sir Jeffery Duck.

First completion of the year - Thank Goodness You're Here. If you grew up on Salad Fingers, Weebly and Bob, Burnt Face Man and Magical Trevor then this game is an insta-buy. Easily the funniest game I've ever played.

What a haul

Finally starting Inscryption and ticking it off my list of shame.

After 8 weeks of chipping away I beat Metaphor Refantazio. An almost perfect JRPG with one of the best battle and progression systems I've experienced for some time. Really curious to see what Atlus does with it next.

I'm so glad this little guy won Game of the Year at the game awards.

Holy crap! I finished Way of Kings last night and it's instantly one of my all time favourites. I feel like I've just unknowingly made a 10 year commitment to this series 😅

Okay I'm enjoying the second Murderbot novella much more than the first. It's really digging into the themes I was hoping it would. Absolutely love A.R.T.

So much of game criticism right now is about some level of realism or coherence within a fantasy world when none of that matters. You used to play Chrono Trigger and you’d run into a talking frog and it wouldn’t be a thing, he’d just be a frog who talked in Medieval English. You’d go ok and have fun

I finished the first Murderbot Diaries book. I really love the concept of an introverted killing machine that just wants to chill and watch TV. I do want a little more plot and world building in the next one though (which I have already purchased 😅)

I finished Piranesi by Susanna Clark. This book has an incredible dreamlike quality and memorable prose. I've never read anything like it. "The Beauty of the House is immeasurable; its Kindness infinite."

The Archetype system in Metaphor Refantazio is the best progression and ability system in years. It has so much flexibility and theorycrafting but is still approachable and forgiving. a true successor to the Final Fantasy V Job System.
