New paper out 🎺 introducing process-based measures of automatisation in L2 The elicited imitation task is widely used as a measure of automatized L2 knowledge. However, the scoring of the task relies exclusively on product-based measures (i.e., accuracy of L2 production).

Sad read, but fully in line with my recent experience, as applicant & as panel member: 1. Reviews vary wildly 2. Panels are inconsistent, essentially a lottery 3. High risk/high gain proposals are systematically sidelined 4. The cost is immense, we need a better way www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
