Wild to me that anyone thought this was ever tasteful or okay (I'm sure some people, even a lot of people, were being deliberately horrible, and yet...) to do. Setting aside the personal issues though, it's also awful to try and drag the dead back out because it stifles new talent.

If you have any level of understanding of how LLMs (which are what are driving the hype wave labeled as "AI") work, you'll see how hollow these promises are. But to enough lay people these models look like magic to drive decisionmaking by minorities of managers, and we're all on the hook for it.

It's funny that after more or less "solving" music piracy, streaming services have become so awful, expensive, and unpredictable that they're driving people back to either own-your-own or pirating. After being burned by the Google Play Music shutdown I went to Plex and never looked back.
